I've only heard Dylan, Hendrix, and XTC. Hendrix is the best by far of those. I think Bob Dylan is a great songwriter, but I don't care for him as a performer at all. I can't think of any song of his that he does better than someone else. He is a mediocre guitarist, a terrible singer, and he couldn't play the harmonica to save his life. Great songwriter though.

I've got a friend who practically worships him. He's a guitar player, right?

Was. He died on September 18, 1970.

He was 27 when died. Just like Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain.

This came up just as I finished playing "The Best of Bob Dylan" which contains his version * smile * I'm not actually that fond of his version, but some of the covers I've heard are great (I think it's the Jimi Hendrix version I am most familiar with, but I've not heard it for a long time so I'm not sure).

You mean he over-dosed?

Kurt Cobain didn't overdose, he blew his brains out.
But they were all 27 when they died.
