I am very excited about it... I haven't been like this for years... We've gone crazy with presents for our daughter's first 'real' xmas.. (the last one she was only 2 weeks old).. we didn't even have a tree last year.

Yes! We're spending 5 weeks at our cabin in the mountains of Georgia. (Actually, the baby and I will be there for 5 weeks. My husband is spending most of January in Europe.) Can't wait...also my step-daughter will be with us for a week. It should be a blast!

Am Jewish, so Xmas is rather irrelevant.

I'll enjoy having the 3-day weekend, though I've no particular plans for it. I've volunteered to cover shifts at work that week for people who are covering for me during the week I take off to travel 3,000 miles to celebrate my mother's birthday.

These days, Christmas looks like more work than pleasure. It still has a lot of meaning for me, but I seem to get less and less time each year to appreciate its meaning.

Not really. Last year I told my family we should have a minimalist Christmas - with no gifts, just a family meal. That idea has not caught on. It looks like It'll be back to buying things people don't need in crowded shopping centres this year.

Was that influenced at all by the South Park Christmas Pageant with Phil Glass? * smile *

Oh yeah!, I forgot about that. I'm actually just sick to death of the commercialism. I mean they started selling Christmas decorations at Woolworths in September.

Yes! I might get a computer, ~600 dollars toward the band's new cd, and best of all, skittles.

I sure am! It's beautiful! My mom's coming to visit, I love the shortest day of the year, I love christmas trees, I love seeing the tree at Rockefeller center and looking at the window displays and the musicians playing christmas songs in the subway stations, and "It's a Wonderful Life" and getting and giving presents and hearing from old friends, and reminiscing about when I was a kid, and the smell of pine, and the cold weather and eggnog and the lobster we have every Christmas Eve and... I get so sad when it's over...

I work in retail part time. Christmas, when you work in retail, is totally shot because of all the idiots that you have to deal with who don't understand that sometimes the item they want is sold out.

I am very excited for Christmas to come, considering its only 39 days away!
