I used to enjoy reading Dr. Seuss books when I was little, but that was a long time ago and can't remember the names of any of them. |

I like the songbook. It's one of the books Mum used a lot when I was a kid.

I hate all Dr. Suess books, ecspecially Green eggs and Ham. The only things having to do with Dr. Suess that I like are my sister's cat in the hat hat, and The Grinch who stole christmas movie. |

I was lucky enough to see the Seussical (a musical based on Dr. Seuss) before it went to Broadway in New York and found it really delightful. My favorite book by far is Fox in Sox, with How The Grinch Stole Christmas (the book and the TV version) coming in second. |

In a People House! I can't believe it's not on the list. |

Dr. Seuss was a genius! My very favourite is "Green Eggs and Ham". "Horton Hears a Who" is a close second. I also like the "Sneeches on the Beaches" story a lot. |
Zang | | (reply to Maarten) posted 12-Oct-2000 3:28pm |
No, that was a British science fiction TV series. |

The Lorax was always easily my favourite as a kid, and I still have a soft spot for it now even though I haven't even seen it in many a year. |

Oobleck & King's stilts Fox in socks Green eggs & ham Sneeches Yertle the Turtle (The pant's with nobody inside 'em!) The Horton books I didn't care for the Cat in the hat, but I read them again because they came in French and Spanish, which I could cross reference to the English version when I was 7.
One of my favorite books is 'The secret art of Dr. Seuss'. In my opinion Theodore Geisel's work stands equal to Chagall, De Chirico, Redon, Toorop, and other renowned artist's of the metaphysical, symbolist, and organic-surrealist schools, as well as the neo-impressionists, fauves, blue-rider, & expressionists, and most certainly the Dadaists. You should see his sculptural works of cartoon -like trophy-head animals. My mom has a book about Queen Godiva taken from his college years in which he explores sexual fetishism. |

"The Star Bellied Sneeches" and "The Lorax". I think there's something in those for all of us. |

It's not "Oh, Baby the places you'll go"...it's "Oh,the places you'll go." |
| BlueberryMuffin | | (reply to Oscar) posted 14-Oct-2000 4:38am |
Yeah, that was one of my favourites as a child but I wasn't sure if it was Dr. Suess or not. |
| kirst | | (reply to Oscar) posted 14-Oct-2000 5:17am |
I think that's by P.D. Eastman who wrote also wrote books in the "I Can Read" beginner series. I loved his "Go, Dog, Go" and "A Fish Out of Water". |
| kirst | | (reply to mandy) posted 14-Oct-2000 5:18am |
There's actually "Oh, Baby the Places You'll Go" as well as "Oh, the Places You'll Go". |
| kirst | | (reply to cpierson) posted 14-Oct-2000 5:18am |
Sorry! I tried to list them all--I had to sort through 288 items listed on Amazon. |
| kirst | | (reply to cpierson) posted 14-Oct-2000 5:23am |
Just checked..."In a People House" was a collaborative effort. I only listed books just by Dr. Seuss, so that's why it wasn't included. |
Kristal_Rose | | (reply to kirst) posted 14-Oct-2000 6:07am |
I loved 'go dog go'. 30 years later I could almost draw the whole book from scratch. 'It is not hot under the house' and the houseboat at night scene, and the carousel (go around, go around again), and those mechicing dogs, and all those 'do you like my hat' and of course the finale were some of my favorites. *** Does anyone remember the title of the book with the old woman in the victorian house with a yak and a crocodile she sent into town to warn of a storm? |
| kirst |
Me, too. "Go, Dog, Go" was one of my favorite books--I also remember those scenes... |

daver ... i have read the secret art of dr. seuss and i have to admit i had to laugh to see those cute furry dr. seuss characters in some strange, sometimes explicit situations. Very odd. |
