| mandy | posted 8-Oct-2000 4:48pm I think they are frightened. |
| daver | posted 8-Oct-2000 4:49pm I think they're a bunch of fruitcakes. |
| Maarten | posted 8-Oct-2000 5:03pm They're living in the 15th century. |
| nihon | posted 8-Oct-2000 6:04pm I think they are somewhat extreme in some of their views, but I think they are trying to do what they believe is the correct thing to do. |
| Richard | posted 8-Oct-2000 6:05pm Yikes!!! |
| Maarten | (reply to nihon) posted 8-Oct-2000 6:14pm So did the nazis. |
| nihon | (reply to Maarten) posted 8-Oct-2000 6:38pm True. I didn't say I agreed with them. |
| SueBee | posted 8-Oct-2000 7:54pm If it helps certain people to obtain their goals in life, good for them... just so long as they don't try shoving it down my throat. |
| Jameseroo | posted 8-Oct-2000 10:19pm I completely diagree with them. Bunch of ignorant bastards! Why is this question getting such a low rating? It is a good question I think. |
| Maarten | (reply to Jameseroo) posted 9-Oct-2000 4:38am I've noticed that when a survey is about a not so popular subject it will get a lower rating than when it is about a popular subject, no matter how good the survey is. A survey about puppies will get a higher rating than for instance this one about some religious fanatics, just because people don't like them! |
| Zang | posted 9-Oct-2000 5:08am Well, I'm not going to pretend that I read all the links in their entirety, but I took a pretty good gander at all of them. My impression was: "mostly harmless". The worst criticism I came across made them out to be not much different from your run of the mill right wing fundamentalist Christian group. Otherwise, I got the impression it was somewhat influenced by the so called "men's movement" of drum banging, weepy eyed, wussy boys. |
| msgman | (reply to Jameseroo) posted 9-Oct-2000 7:05am I think the main reason this got a poor rating is that a lot of people are still annoyed with the SC's attitude in qualifying. Even though it finally scraped through, I still think it could have been a much better survey. |
| Jody | posted 9-Oct-2000 9:58am I think the goal of bringing men to a more responsible state toward their families is laudable, but their activities seem discriminatory and a bit histrionic. |
| Jameseroo | (reply to msgman) posted 9-Oct-2000 11:22am Oh. Well it is a good question. People should not hold such grudges against others. Let bygones be bygones. I have not done the survey qualifying thing, but I am sure it can be frustrating at times and you may lose sanity. |
| natsim | posted 9-Oct-2000 12:05pm I think they probably do some good in terms of helping men to work harder at maintaining their marriages. I am concerned about how they place women in an overly submissive position, which I think is contrary to the teaching of Christ. I don't like the way they define Christian relationships. |
| anonymous | posted 9-Oct-2000 2:42pm They are horrible. |
| Zang | (reply to nihon) posted 9-Oct-2000 2:55pm I just had a look at "Advanced Stats" for this one, and read your soapbox speech. Well said! |
| nihon | (reply to Zang) posted 9-Oct-2000 3:16pm Someone had to do it. Andyroo was getting a little carried away. It could happen to anyone. |
| Zang | (reply to nihon) posted 9-Oct-2000 4:04pm Qualification can be a little grueling at times. It certainly helps if everyone concerned bears in mind the principals which you so eloquently stated. Let cooler heads prevail. |
| nihon | (reply to Zang) posted 9-Oct-2000 4:18pm That was my thought. |
| Jemmy | posted 9-Oct-2000 6:34pm stupid. |
| kirst | posted 10-Oct-2000 2:49am I didn't look that closely at the websites. I think, like most things, there is some good to the movement and some bad. I don't really care about this movement. |
| North79 | posted 10-Oct-2000 12:44pm It smacks of religious fundamentalism to me, which frankly I find pretty scary, but who am I do dictate other people's faith? There are definetely some positives to the movement, but I think that unfortunately they are heavily outweighed by negatives. |
| smurf | posted 12-Oct-2000 2:04am I fully support the Promise Keepers movement. It's about time men discovered what it really means to be head of the household, to really love their wife and children, and know how to show them that love. These days, men who show emotions are generally considered "weak", but Promise Keepers is an opportunity for men to be honest with each other, and not risk being labelled "weak" or "pathetic". They can support each other. |
| smurf | (reply to mandy) posted 12-Oct-2000 2:05am Just wondering ... frightened of what? |
| mandy | (reply to smurf) posted 12-Oct-2000 9:51pm Uppity women! |
| smurf | (reply to mandy) posted 15-Oct-2000 9:43pm Oh ... okay |
| TheBlackAdder | posted 28-Oct-2000 12:35am I thought it interesting the amount of well documented adult entertainment that men in this organization pay good money for. |
| kaleb777 | posted 10-Nov-2000 2:59pm They are a bunch of male feminist sympatisers who are totally emasculated and need to suck up to women in order to get sex. |
