| steve | posted 12-Jun-1998 4:04pm If I'm feeling fairly poor, but I do want to go out, I'll suggest (PLUG PLUG PLUG) V Majestic, on North Beacon St. in Allston. Mountains of excellent food dirt cheap. |
| daver | posted 12-Jun-1998 4:05pm Chinese, diner, their fridge or mine. No fast food. If I'm going out to eat with friends, then I want somewhere I can sit down for a while. If I'm strapped for cash, I have no problem saying "I'm strapped for cash; let's go somewhere cheap." |
| elijahblue | posted 12-Jun-1998 4:11pm The Double T diner (I'm in the Baltimore/DC area, I don't know if they have these elsewhere). Great food, a huge menu, low prices, and a parade of interesting people/coversations to keep you entertained. |
| lisashea | posted 12-Jun-1998 4:20pm Rasoi indian buffet, $5.95 a person all you can eat. I'd NEVER go to a fast food joint with a crowd as a "place to eat". Or I'd have them over for dinner at my place, but if you have half a brain there's all sorts of cool, cheap restaurants with really good food. |
| doom | posted 12-Jun-1998 4:34pm *jjg - Shorty's went out of business in Worcester, the closest is now in Nashua NH. |
| jjg | posted 12-Jun-1998 4:50pm Someplace with Mexican food. In the past that would be Shorty's Mexican Roadhouse in Worcester, MA.***Doom: I know that's why I put in the past. I liked Shorty's. |
| reality | posted 12-Jun-1998 4:54pm Denny's is a diner isn't it? basically a cheapish place that serves good food(and a reasonable assortment) at a reaslonable price.. there is a place called Bravo's nearby which is pretty decent.. |
| lizzie | posted 12-Jun-1998 5:01pm I can't eat fast food anymore...my digestive system goes into revolt. So, that leaves out most of what you described above. I'd probably go to the 99 or something. |
| dab | posted 12-Jun-1998 6:31pm You consider Boston Market to be home cooking? It smells good but it always leaves me thinking it wasn't so great. |
| FateIsRandom | posted 12-Jun-1998 6:50pm *dab I have never eaten there in my life but they claim to be one of those, I wouldn't touch it though. |
| bill | posted 13-Jun-1998 6:10am Boston Market (when it used to be Boston Chicken) used to be better, then it got made into a fast food joint - the quality dropped severely. Kind of sad... |
| phi | posted 14-Jun-1998 5:49pm Hey, where's pizza on this list? |
| mute | posted 14-Jun-1998 6:11pm Taco Bell, home of 49-79 cent bean burritos. I like places at which one can eat a filling meal for less than 3 bucks. |
| Jaime | posted 16-Jun-1998 7:27am I prefer "home cookin" ones. I suppose you are talking about what spanish call "comidas caseras". Here there are some great places for that, with nice typical foods just cooked few minutes before. |
| milktree | posted 18-Jun-1998 11:30am some place like Christophers, sometimes Boston Market. Never, ever McDonalds or BK. Ick. |
| ron2112 | posted 18-Jun-1998 9:26pm Five bucks at the grocery store plus whatever happens to be in the fridge will feed at least four people in the hands of a skilled cook. Lorax, nbarone, am I lying here? Back me up... |
| Melissa | posted 21-Jun-1998 6:47pm Health food store, my gourmet vegetarian kitchen, movie theater butter-style microwave popcorn (quite eclectic tastes, I know). |
| RatQueen | posted 5-Jul-1998 7:40pm I said a burgerjoint, but if I didn't have a car, then definitely to the fridge wherever we are. |
| FacelessShadow | posted 21-Jul-1998 1:02pm I love Chinese! |
| dpolicar | posted 27-Jul-1998 8:26pm Lame set of answers! I probably cook if I'm home. |
