You mean like voluntarily, by taxation, a legislative cut of the profits, or by some sort of backroom graft deal? Either way, sure why not?

Political parties should not receive money from any companies. In addition, equal air time should be permitted all parties, not simply the parties that can afford it. Let the people know exactly who they are voting for.

why not? we all give money where we want to give it..... they should be able to give what they want. now, if you are asking if the politicians owe anything for the money given, then i say no!!

They should be able to take political contributions from anyone, but it should be public knowledge how much they get from whom.

Of course not. For the same reason, all cigarette taxes should only go into federal coffers.

Re: politics.
No proactive or paid advertising (TV, etc.)
Parties & candidates would be limited to whatever they could describe on their website, toll free number, and brochures requested by mail or handed out by unpaid volunteers. Any commercial media giving contact info would be obligated to give the contact info for all parties or candidates equally. Same for debates.
Further, ballots should be interspersed with random questions about each measure or candidate, and acceptance of their vote on each of these would be contingent upon them proving themself to be informed on the particular issue or race.

Richard would like to see smoking banned, and I think that is the point of these surveys.

If corporations in general are allowed to donate to political parties, than I don't see why tobacco companies in particular should be excluded from being able to do so.
