In an effort to reduce oil prices, President Clinton authorized the release of 30 million barrels of oil from the United States' Strategic Petroleum Reserve this past weekend. Do you agree with this decision?

I think that it was intended more to garner votes (for Al Gore) than to lower prices, but I disagree with it regardless.

I think it was pointless. 30 million barrels is nothing to OPEC.

The Strategic Reserve is for national emergencies, not market fluctuations. Frankly, energy is so cheap in the U.S. that we waste it without thinking. Higher prices force efficiency.

Lets use the oil that is on reserve and buy only when the price is low.

I disagree with it. People should use less oil.

It really doesn't matter it's just a political move. The refineries are running at max capacity seven days a week. The oil is there it just can't get refined fast enough to keep up with demand. Besides lets face it 30 million barrels that's only enough for about 48 hours of use at the rate it is being consumed.

I like high gas prices. It means fewer idiots on the road.

I think so but to be honest I'm not very well informed on the issue. Without further information, the idea sounds sensible to me.

Who cares. Does anyone really believe that if the Yanks were short of oil they would not simply take it from some craphouse country? Whatever the Americans do it is only for show. If they wanted to they would
simply invade one of those fudgeed up muslim cuntries and take waht they want.
