Why not include Northern Ireland'? It's part of Britain!

This is not my survey - I corrected it according to the qualifying statements of an anonymous survey. I think there are too many shades of grey, however.

Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) but not Britain. It is however part of the British Iles as is the Republic of Ireland!

Brief explanation of terms:

* The "British Isles" is the archipelago to the north-east of the European mainland, just across from France, Belgium and Holland. It includes the islands of Great Britain (the largest single landmass in the archipelago), Ireland, the Hebrides and the Orkney/Shetland islands. It is a geographical, not political term.

* Great Britain contains three historic political entities: The nations of England and Scotland and the principality of Wales. These were united into the "United Kingdom of Great Britain" by the Act of Union in 1707 (Wales having previously been placed under English rule by the Statute of Rhuddlan in 1284).

* Ireland had previously been joined to the existing United Kingdom by the Act of Union of 1801, but in 1919 the island was partitioned into the new, independent, Republic of Ireland ("Eire") and the six counties of Ulster that remained with the UK.

* The current political name, "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" describes the main geographical areas that are part of the union.

This has been a public service announcement. Thank you for reading. Normal service will now be resumed * smile *

I know we have a Yob culture, but it is only a minority. The average Brit is genuinely decent.

Why wouldn't I? Is there something I don't know? From what I know about their culture, land, habits, and lifestyle I think they're pretty cool -blending the past with the present.

English young people (up to 30, 35) are not very popular in The Netherlands, because of their behaviour when they've been drinking too much.
They don't realize that the beer here is stronger than at home and that the bars don't close at 11 like they do back in England. So they get piss drunk very early at night and then they start mooning. Whenever you see people mooning here you can be 100% sure they're English. In no other country in Europe people moon, just in England. Fudging wankers.

Mooning. Is that a form of howling? Fascinating.

Yes. I have personally met all of them, and found each and every one to be just lovely.
What an absurd question.

Yes. I am predominantly of British ancestry, most of my grandparents were born there. I was mistaken for English, a couple of days ago, by and Australian tourist I was talking to in a bar. I think he was heavily influenced by my appearance. I look VERY English.

I've met a lot of wankey Brits in Hong Kong and yet our best friends here are also British. Perhaps there's just a lot of FILTH here (Failed In London, Try Hong Kong). There are quite a few Brits that have very little education and yet think they know everything. My husbands last company contained a whole clique of them--we nicknamed them the "British Mafia".

Anyway, there are some good Brits and there are some wankers--same as any other group.
