Who will be the next US president?

Note: I'm asking who you think will win, not who you want to win or who you will (or would) vote for. Everyone is welcome to participate, you don't need to be American! I want to see if SC users are better at political predictions than the media pundits and pollsters * smile *

VotesAnswer
21Bush, by a narrow margin

Bush by a comfortable margin in electoral votes and a smaller margin in the popular vote.

Did you follow all the links? I liked the one where the Frank Dec "fans" burst into his hospital room in black suits and tried to interview him. There's a picture! I have the Donna Kossy book "Kooks". There is another rant in it that isn't on the web-page. The page is from her "Kooks" website. One of my buddies has the Psychic TV CD with Frank Dec rants on it. Where did you first come across the rants of Francis E. Dec Esq.?

As much as I hate it, I'll have to say that Bush will take it by a small margin. Were it my choice, Gore would win narrowly; I'll vote for Gore, most likely. I'm not fond of either politician, however; they both have aspects that I abhor. Bush and his "Wicca is NOT a religion" and Gore with his taxes and bans on muscle cars. . .

Bush I would think...Gore may have some expierience in the political field but then maybe the Americans are looking for a newcomer like Bush to take the position...who knows...most Republicans will vote for Bush and the Clinton loyalists will go for Gore...I personally see Bush winning by a comfortable margin by the time election is over

I am appalled that there is any chance that someone as unpleasant as Bush leading a party as unpleasant as the Republicans can be seen be a majority of Americans as preferable. Clinton has been sufficiently right-wing surely!? GO GORE, GO GORE.

Although I believe the country to be fiscally conservative...the social programs and overall umbrella of the Dems greatly overshadows the GOP in this election.

Most people in the US don't prefer Bush to Gore. Nor do they prefer Gore to Bush. Most won't vote. Clinton won the last election with less than 25% of the electorate. I take this as a sign that most are disgusted with the choices but I may just be projecting my own opinion.

I don't know much about politics, but I watch TV and I have noticed that Whoopi Goldberg, Conan O'Brien, Alec Baldwin, Barbara Streisand, Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas, Jewel, Matt Lauer, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather, Rosie O'Donnell, Roseanne, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, "The View", "Spin City", "Ally McBeal", Steven Spielberg, Bill Maher, and well, it seems like everyone I see on TV is for Gore. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me! GO GORE!! * smile *

From what I read here in UK, Americans have preferred Bush to Gore. However as you rightly say a larger number will not vote at all. In this race it is the voters who have all the power as conscientious abstention counts for nothing.

Sadly I fear this. I would love to see Ralph Nader as the next president, but I'm scared the Nader/Gore decision will be on a lot of people's minds and in result lose by a narrow margin to the pure evil of George W. All ye dam Republicans. I like Gore for his environmental stats (electric cars yes!), but i'm just so sick of the two parties. But like someone above, I'm throwing away my vote for Nader. He has a better rating/support/whatever at this point in the campaign than Jesse Ventura did this early in his. All of us on the computer who haven't voted in years I want to come out and get Nader in. Vote NEITHER (Nader). I'm also from Minnesota, if that's anything.

I wish neither Gore or Bush would win. You really have one in the same with Gore or Bush. But if I HAD to between those two, I would go for Bush. But if I had another choice,a real choice, I would vote for Pat Buchanan.

The problem with Buchanan is that he continues to confuse Church and State. If he could get that under control he would probably be a reasonable President.

I think Gore has full knowledge of the lies coming from the White House. He's not to be trusted, not that Bush is. I think it's sad that for President of our country we have to pick between the lesser of two evils, not the best person for the job. It's a sad commentary on the plight of our Nation.

I don't like either one of them, and intend to vote Green party, Ralph Nader, that is. But I'd say, with the exception of a miracle happening, Bush is going to win simply because the republicans just have too much pull. Especially after Clinton has made such a joke of the Oval office for the past 8 years.

Ralph Nader may have done some good for consumers, but in person he is a hateful, over-controlling bigot, a hypochondriac, and he hates animals. Bush is a drunk, a thief, and an idiot. Even his own daddy knows he can't be trusted with the red "hold" button on the phone, much less world-affecting decisions. Not to mention the disaster he's made out of Texas. I'd vote for Al Gore even if he WERE as boring as the media tries to portray him.

Gore, I'm very sorry to say. I think they are both chumps. Al needs to work on developing a few new facial expressions, methinks. George Jr..well, how about brushing up on your, say, international politics?
If you want to be President it helps to have above a Grade 4 knowledge of the going-on in other countries (especially your major trading partners)
