I lived in a city when I was in college and each spring, after my last final exam of the year, I'd drop my stuff in my dorm room and start walking. I'd end up either at the Aquarium or the Science Museum. That was generally my first sunburn of the year too. |

Go for a walk, go to a movie, SHOP!!!!, listen to live music, if I could drive then I would, depending on how nice it is, go to the beach. |

Er, that would be The Bronx. Or da Bronx, if you want to say it like a local. But never, never "the bronks."

Sorry my bad. I was going to spell it the Bronx, but it looked funny so I changed it. |

I guess even when I plan to do something else, I usually end up walking a lot. Boston is a small city and it's easy to walk in. It's also fairly attractive, in a lot of places, so it's pleasant to walk in, too. I love listening to live music, and eating, of course! |
Enheduanna | | posted 22-Jul-2000 12:09pm |
I like to garden a lot on nice days, too. |

I love the outdoors. So I like to go down to the nature perserve and hike. Sometimes I will bring some food and have a picnic, which is a lot of fun. |

*Smile* It is kind of an odd name, isn't it? |

Yeah, it's doesn't look like correct english with the X. Kind of like Thanx instead of Thanks. |

Have a picnic or work in the community garden across the street. |

What city do you live in? We don't have a nature preserve here in Boston, though we have some parks and I would like to try the arboretum sometime. |
| Lauren | | (reply to joachim) posted 25-Jul-2000 3:55pm |
I live outside of Atlanta. We have several preserves toward the northern part of Georgia. How do you like the parks and arboretum there? I might be visiting there soon. |
| joachim | | (reply to Lauren) posted 25-Jul-2000 6:17pm |
Well, there are some small parks along the river that are fairly pleasant, and the Common and Public Gardens downtown - but they're small. I've never been to the arboretum but maybe I can get down there sometime soon. There are some interesting monuments and the like here and there, often with parkland surrounding them (Castle Island, for example). But a lot of the area is built up. |

What is the pride march? |
| Avocado | | (reply to kirsty) posted 29-Jul-2000 1:59am |
It's the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride March... an annual event in major cities, where people in the LGBT community gather in mass numbers (over 100,000 attended in my city) and have a parade. Very colorful. And very spirited. |
| kirsty | | (reply to Avocado) posted 30-Jul-2000 1:40am |
Oh right! We have one like that here, not very big though. I can't say i've ever been to one. |
| Avocado | | (reply to kirsty) posted 31-Jul-2000 2:51am |
They are very festive... do attend sometime! |

If you ask me the best thing in a city is the great restraunts to go to |
| Avocado | | (reply to kirsty) posted 21-Aug-2000 4:52pm |
No, they are for everyone - everyone is welcome! Gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transfolk, polyfolk, leatherfolk, straight supportive folks, parents and friends of LGBT folks, etc...
Civil rights and recognition and pride for one group could be said to benefit all; so in that respect, these parades truly are for everyone. |
| kirst | | posted 24-Aug-2000 12:29am |
If it was a pleasant afternoon, you'd be hard pressed to find me heading into the city. I'd prefer to spend it on a boat. However, Hong Kong at night can be a lot of fun. There are a lot of good restaurants. Occasionally there is a show I want to see. The thing I miss most here is live music. There is very little. |
