My mother won a beauty pageant when she was young.

I've never been involved in pageants, but I can see how fun it would be to win. I have practiced my acceptance speech in front of the mirror.

No, but my parents apparently signed me up to model when I was a baby.

Town-wide spelling bee? yes. Beauty pageant? no.

I'm not sure what a beauty pageant is in it's specifics. It sounds like a waste of time devoted to classifying someone as having more physical charms over another. How about a brain pageant? Well, I guess those with the apt noggins would be too busy thinking to attend!

I won second place and I got 10$

Were you playing Monopoly at the time? One of the Community Chest cards says, "You have won second prize in a beauty contest" and indicates you should receive $10.

I wouldn't enter a beauty pageant because that would prove to everybody I know that what they say about me is true.

I was playing monopoly with my friends today, and I got that card three times! :)

But they don't seem to have them for men

They do! There are some "co-ed" beauty pageants, Mr Gay World, Mr Universe, Mr Punyverse and of course, lots of beauty pageants for drage queens. There have been some men who have entered women's pageants and won, but I couldn't find the news articles on the web.

Beauty? Me? LOL ...anyway, I think beauty alone is a rather shallow subject for a contest. I prefer not to rate people by their genes and how much money they spend on cosmetics.

Ethan: how about just their genes?

I was the Marblehead Centennial Queen. I did it for the money, and the plan worked.
