| pcpr | posted 14-Jun-2000 12:37am OK, I'll bite... what did Christian Slater do? (Given that the word is there's at most 6 degrees of separation between a person like me and Christian Slater, I suppose I should ask, just in case we actually meet... |
| mandy | posted 14-Jun-2000 1:03am Yes! |
| Andyroo | (reply to pcpr) posted 14-Jun-2000 2:46am Christian Slater has assaulted people on a number of occasions |
| Zang | posted 14-Jun-2000 6:18am I don't know anything about the individuals mentioned, but I would say that if you compare wealthy individuals to poor individuals, it is a safe bet that the poor people spend more time in worse jails than the wealthy. |
| daver | posted 14-Jun-2000 8:09am I think that it's actually rich people that get off too easily. |

| jettles | posted 14-Jun-2000 10:29am i think it is probably hard to live under the public scrutiny as most popular figures do.... but i also think that if you make a lot of money for people that they will try to find a way to cover up or work things out outside of the legal system if possible. as far as oj is concerned, he had his day in court, and was found not guilty because the prosecutor didn't prove the case. that was mostly about money. if i was on trial for that crime, i would have gone to prison because i couldn't have afforded the defense he had. |
| Andyroo | (reply to daver) posted 18-Jun-2000 5:59pm The Menendez brother's were wealthy and they didn't get off... But you're right about rich people getting off too easily just for the fact that they can pay for better legal services. |
| anonymous | posted 18-Jun-2000 6:00pm Yes, but we'd miss their presence in the next hit movie! |
| joachim | posted 19-Jun-2000 5:16pm Yes, but I think it's actually rich people. I believe a rich but non famous person has a better chance of getting off easy than a rich famous person, because the judge and jury don't feel the weight of popular opinion on their shoulders. |
| they | posted 24-Jun-2000 1:56am I don't think Tommy Lee got off easily... I think an example was made out of him... Robert Downey, Jr. on the other hand... |
| davec | posted 26-Jun-2000 4:36am No, normal (innocent) people don't get off easily enough. |
| TellerChick | posted 6-Jul-2000 7:05pm It depends, I mean, look at OJ. |
| Jemmy | posted 11-Aug-2000 5:28pm Some of them. Others they wouldn't even give a second thought to if they weren't famous. |
| Guthrie | posted 25-Aug-2000 11:35am A famous footballer (soccer player) here in the UK was let off a speeding offence because he persuaded the court he was particularly concerned about newspaper photographers chasing him and putting his life at risk. Really! |
