It is all about context. When something is trendy, I don't think it looks silly. Five years later, you can often get away with it. Ten years later, it is pretty much guaranteed it will look silly. Fifteen years later, either it still looks silly, or it might look cutting edge retro. Twenty years later it is probably back in style, and very trendy and retro.

Confessions: Oh what the hell, okay...

70's: Polyester disco suits, platform shoes, bell-bottom jeans, and punk.

80's: Polyester disco suits, leg-warmers, big hair, a tail, the Miami Vice look, Goth, punk, 60's retro.

90's: Just bell-bottom jeans, and I've retained a certain amount of the "Goth" look right up to the present, primarily dressing mostly in black, and rarely wearing colours. I stopped dying my hair, plucking my eyebrows, wearing makeup, nail polish, dresses, and all the other quasi-transvestite Goth gear back in '86.

I don't think I was alive to remember any of those, but right now...the baggy pants with the crotch down at your knees looks pretty funny.

All of them you listed but not all fashion trends.

The only one I would add some qualification to is corsets--when done ridiculously tight, they look, well, ridiculous; otherwise they can be quite attractive. As for the rest of these, I noticed that I ticked off way more of the 80s trends (many of which I indeed wore) than any of the others!

I think most fashion trends are pretty silly looking back on them. But at the time, most of them seemed so cool! I loved bell-bottoms when I was a kid, but now I think they look goofy. I'm really frightened about the 70's fashions coming back into style. I think they were worse than the 60's stuff!

I can't believe I wore some of these things. Hey! You forgot those ugly sweater dresses.

I think a lot of them did not look silly, even if they do now.

What's wrong with love beads, platforms and bellbottoms. I like the 60's. I wish I lived in them.

I bet it did! It would have been soooo cool to see people like Janis Joplin perform, and to have visited Woodstock.

She knew I had a fetish for ladies undergarments and asked if I would like to try on a corset perhaps wear it for the day I jumped at the chance I was showed different types I and finally chose one, it was mentioned to me this was a lockable model I didn’t care. The lady zipped the corset up the front proceeded then proceeded to tighten all the laces, and finished of with a double bow at the back , (when I saw the garment at first there was a loose piece of material at back and two straps) she apparently put the bow and any loose laces in a pocket at back and by pulling on one of the straps that was attached to the flap of material it covered the laces the two straps came round each side of my waist one strap had eyelets the other was had a metal loop with was passed through the nearest eyelet and padlocked in place. She kept the key till the end of the day what a lovely experience it was and it really helped me keep a feminine
posture. May I add I’ve also crossdressed Goth style make up the lot then gone out in public that was another great thrill?
