Yes, any adult (meaning at least 16) without a criminal/mental history should be allowed to carry one in certain places... but obviously not into a school, courtroom, etc.

Where then? Public parks? Trains? Airplanes? Restaurants? Who will decide where?

In publicly owned (different from just "public), outdoor places (streets, parks, etc.) concealed weapons should be acceptable. But not inside government buildings (Public schools, courtrooms, congress, the local irs department, whatever).
In privately owned businesses, it is really up to the owner (But (s)he wouldnt have a good way to enforce it..).

And the same people who decide where it is legal nowadays... hehe.

I don't know that I care enough to form an opinion. I can see both sides of the issue.

I think people should be able to carry unconcealed weapons - it bothers me that doing so can be conceived as "assault".

It's not at all obvious to me why criminals should be given free reign in schools, courtrooms, or other government buildings. Please explain it to me.

No, I think people should be allowed to carry weapons openly. I think it would lead to a politer society.

Anyone who has reached their majority with the exception of those who have had that right purposefully stripped through due process.

Well, the criminals would not have free reign, in most government buildings there are (or at least should be) security guards. And do you have any idea how many people would get shot if we allowed guns into courtrooms?

I think only law enforcement officers should be able to carry one and this is only when they're on duty. Other than that...people say they need it for self defence so if no one is allowed to carry a concealed weapon then there's no need to protect yourself with a gun if the person attacking you doesn't have one either.

How would carrying a gun openly lead to a politer society? Parents teaching their children better manners and morals makes a polite society, not people holding a gun to everyone who pisses them off or doesn't let them have their way.

Would you be rude to someone with a gun? I wouldn't. And I venture 98% of the population would not.

It warms my heart to see that people have such faith in the rule of law.

If everyone had a gun people might go trigger happy over the new found sense of power. That leads to more crime, more disrespect for other people and therefore a lack of politeness in society. Way back before I was born society was polite and it had nothing to do with people carrying guns. It has everything to do with parents taking responsiblity of raising their children properly instead of throwing them infornt of some form of technology. I'd rather have an unpolite society, than one where people are shot for getting on someone's bad side.

Yes, I believe any adult who is not a convicted felon should be allowed to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

I don't have an opinion on this. It is a complicated issue which I don't think I understand fully enough to make a judgment.

Yes. Anyone 21 or older that has no previous mental illness or convictions(other than traffic)Statistics show crime goes down in areas that have "right to carry" laws. The needed laws for handguns are already on the books-just not enforced.

I believe in reducing crime, not allowing citizens to shoot people and claim self defense.

But there's no law that can prevent me from shooting you, dave. Or I should say prevent you from shooting me since you have a gun and I don't. It will warm my cold heart to know that you've been thrown in jail as I rot in my coffin.
