As a rule, do you generally perceive people who wear glasses as smarter than those who don't?

You are invited to explain why in more detail.

I don't think so, but certainly some people look very smart because of their glasses. I think you have to have the right face for it, though.

Yes, I do. For some reason, glasses give an air of intelligence. I feel that I look smarter when I wear my glasses. Some people look more dignified when they wear glasses, but some people also look like complete fools when they wear glasses.

Not necessarily smarter, but possibly geeky or bookish. There might be a preconception that they're bookish if the rest of their "look" goes with that. There is a certain nerdy mode of dress that bookish people adopt.

It all depends on the style of the frames.

it probably depends on the glasses... if they're wire-rim Giles-type glasses, yeah I probably do. If they look nasty then I probably don't

As a general rule, they are smarter than those who don't... I would like to see a large scale study done on this, in the form:

Question 1: What is your IQ.
Question 2: What is your eyesight.

Or perhaps, the last question on an IQ test might be "What is your eyesight", therefore it would be a little more accurate.

So does that mean the worse my eyesight gets, the smarter I get? Cool!

People who wear glasses just have bad eyes. They're not smarter than people without glasses.

And what makes this a bad survey, asswipe? Like yours are so much better. By the way, what kind of name is "jettles"? How lame. Snotty, goody two shoes people like you need to be put out of their misery. Not my fault you are so uncreative you can only think up three surveys. Didn't know this website was a "contest" for who could put out a "better" survey. Thought it might be a place where people could learn and explore different issues, and possibly find out where people stand on various things that they are curious about, but guess I was wrong!!! I have a perfectly good reason for making this survey. My ex used to contemplate whether or not to wear glasses as opposed to contacts on his interviews (he was about to graduate from grad school). He thought they would give the impression of intelligence. I thought it was pretty silly, but it's sad how impressionable people are with stupid things like that. So, whatever. It's something I wanted to know. I didn't know I was competing. If you don't like my survey, then why are you wasting your time reading it and posting here? I don't read surveys I have no interest in... like yours.

ahhh, nice, so we have now sunk into name calling and belittling screen names. i didn't say anything about a contest or any of my surveys being better than your's or anyone elses. my opinion about your survey or any survey is my own. and then a threat on top of it all!! very nice!! may be a little anger management is called for!! but i must commend you on not making this anonymous, i appreciate it.
oh, by the way, suebee, when you read the reply i sent to you, maybe i was incorrect about things changing around here!

cydonia:i felt a need to say more. my comment was not personal. please do not take it as such. i have answered and had input to other of your surveys. opinions are what this site is all about(the differences that make the world go around), not right or wrong or contests.

You know, it's silly, but I think I do. Actually, it probably depends on the person. Sometimes glasses make a person look more studious. Other times they just make them look dorky. (That'd be the case with me -- glad I don't wear glasses!)

jettles & cydonia - Now, now girls! Lets kiss and make up. * smile *

Seriously, sometimes something can come across here sounding worse than it was intended, or maybe when we're in a bad mood or something strikes a nerve we tend to get a little carried away. (I speak from personal experience there.) I hope you won't let this become some sort of feud. Not that it's any of my business!!

Jettles, you felt the need to diss me first, so don't expect not to get dissed in return. What I'm wondering, is, if you felt this survey was so bad, WHY WERE YOU EVEN HERE READING IT AND POSTING?????? Don't you have anything better to do? Because I don't run around reading surveys I don't like and posting there. And you're still coming back here to answer me??? I didn't even think you'd read this again. I certaintly wouldn't have wasted my time doing what you do.

Um, what??? Ok, thanks a lot for accusing me of crap. You must be smoking a lot of pot to make such assumptions. I did not wish you dead on the pot smoking survey. If I had, I wouldn't have done it anonymously. I don't hate many people either, so whatever. That's pretty fudgeed up to accuse me of something someone else did and jump to conclusions about me.

Cydonia, jettles said that the survey was bad, not that you are. You are the one who began hurling insults here.

Personally, I don't have a problem either with you or the survey. I do think you owe jettles an apology though.

these all come up under my replies so i see them when i check my replies. i am not constantly checking back at the survey.
i read all the surveys and part of the process of posting surveys and reading the surveys is to have them rated......that is what the rating box is for. that is part of what the site is about. if you don't want to be rated then don't make any surveys.
more importantly, why is this so personal to you, i don't know you. it wasn't meant to be personal, it was just a survey that i happened not to like. it wasn't a "diss" as you called it, it was my opinion. i never insulted you personally, but you have called me numerous names....... let's just stop, no more replies! thanks.

I wear glasses, and I'm smarter than average. Therefore unless people other than me who wear glasses are stupider on average than people who don't, I must conclude that glasses-wearing people are smarter on average than non-glasses-wearing people. * wink *

I don't, but I know others do, so on job interviews I wear a pair of vanity frames. *snicker* Interviewers are looking for smart people, and the stigma with glasses is still "bookworm", so why not use stereotypes in your favor whenever possible?
