| they | posted 3-Jun-2000 8:44pm Probably still occasionally, although I live in an area where I don't know too many people who can get it for me.. and we can't really afford it right now... I used to smoke nonstop all day every day... then I moved to once or twice a day.. now I'm between your rarely and occasionally. |
| mandy | posted 3-Jun-2000 8:45pm I smoked a couple of times when I was a teen and later as an adult I smoked some with a friend. I wish I could smoke it now but I do not want to break the law being as I am a guardian of a young child. Once she is grown and no longer my legal responsibility, I plan to start my own farm and smoke all day every day until I die. |

| Beachy | posted 4-Jun-2000 6:21am I don't like any drugs (inc. alcohol and tobbacco) anything that changes the way I naturally am can't be good and indeed does scare me when I realise that change has happened. However I do believe in trying everything once because you never know- it might be worth it. I haven't found anything that is yet though... |

| anonymous | posted 4-Jun-2000 8:35am I seem to go through periods in my life where I get into a groove of smoking pot with some friends often while doing some other activity. I haven't been in such a groove for a few years now though. I never liked that I had to inhale smoke into my lungs. I think I'd prefer to eat hash instead, though the effect is more like tripping than smoking pot. I wish drugs had duration and intensity knobs on them. |
| anonymous | posted 4-Jun-2000 1:25pm I smoke about three or four times a year. I really enjoy it, but it makes me very lazy. However, sometimes I use it to remember there's a connection with all living things. I think everybody should get high from time to time. Regards |
| anonymous | posted 4-Jun-2000 3:32pm *vomits!* This is a repulsive question! Why any one who has any respect for themselves would ever subject themselves to this is beyond me. If it were up to me every one who was caught doing drugs would be shot on the spot. People with no self respect, who treat their bodies and themselves like a dog should be treated with no respect and like a dog. |
| BlueberryMuffin | posted 4-Jun-2000 3:36pm I have never tried any drugs and never will. I was, however, exposed to tiny amount of marijuana smoke once. The result was my being violently ill for three days. So I'm suspecting I'm allergic to marijuana any way. |

| anonymous | posted 5-Jun-2000 11:04pm I used to smoke every day, ever hour, for about 2 years straight. I smoked it for about 5 years total on a fairly regular basis. By the way, anyone who thinks pot is less harmful for the lungs than cigarettes is misinformed. My stoner friends used to tell me that too, but it is simply not true. It is about 10 times worse. Smoking one joint is the equivalent of smoking 10-15 cigarettes. It's also more harmful because people usually hold the smoke in their lungs as long as they can, something not done with cigs. The only reason it seems better is it has a different effect on the lungs initially (I forget the reason why). It used to actually seem to clear up my chest congestion and I thought that meant it was ok, but I was wrong. The main reason I quit is I was developing emphysema. If you don't believe me, do some research online, and you'll find out what I say is the truth. Besides the fact that it changes the chemistry of one's mind (which is generally bad, but in some ways perhaps good), it is VERY bad for your lungs, and has all the bad effects of cigarettes (wrinkles, aging, facial hair, heart disease, etc.) but worse. It affects your ability to concentrate, learn, memorize, etc. in a negative way (I'm speaking long term here). On the good side, sometimes it can inspire or add some creativity or allow you to see things from other perspectives, but usually it's useless inspiration and you'd be better off sober and meditating to get that. So if you do it, I would advise not to do it more than once every few months if you care about these things. I do believe it can be used for medicinal purposes and is not always bad, but that would depend on for what and how and on who as everyone has different chemistry. The way it is usually used now, it is usually abused. Oh, by the way, to the anonymous person above, I didn't do it initially because I lacked self respect. Perhaps if some enlightened soul such as yourself had explained to me in detail the implications of my acts, I wouldn't have done it. But no one did... My parents even let me smoke in their house I guess because they thought if they didn't, I would do it elsewhere. Well, parents, that is a bad move. I would have done it less if I hadn't been allowed to smoke at home. |
| anonymous | posted 5-Jun-2000 11:13pm By the way, anonymous#4, you're starting to sound like a Nazi there. Unless you think people should be able to shoot you for any little thing they think you do wrong or is wrong with you, I would calm down a bit. Live and let live is my motto. |
| anonymous | posted 5-Jun-2000 11:47pm I think pot would be a million times healthier if people ate it instead of smoking it, although studies would have to be done because you never know. If we developed it so people ate it more than smoked it (and this was economical), and then people did it in moderation for the right reasons and not the wrong reasons (just like hallucinogens can be positive if done very once in a while for reasons like a spiritual quest rather than all the time for social entertainment value), I think it would be much better. Anything used as a crutch or not in moderation becomes a poison. Then, it should be legalized, people should be taught about the good and bad effects, and things would be better I think. People should also eat coca leaves instead of cocaine too, and then that might be a lot healthier. Coca leaves have a ton of B vitamins in them. Sniffing things is definitely unhealthy. If you want to know why, let me know and I'll tell you. Everything in moderation. Many of these drugs were once plants, and most plants have a beneficial effect on something. Anyway, I hope I have been able to help someone. If you're 16 and smoking twice a week, at least make educated decisions (not decisions based on what friends tell u). Do a little research online about any drug you are doing regularly and realize they do do their harm. If you want to lose your beauty, age, grow a beard (if you're a girl), etc.. in a few years, not to mention lose your health, you're ability to exercise and stay in shape (asthma and emphysema tend to cause one to not exercise), and god knows what else, keep smoking (cigs and/or pot) twice a week. I mean, there's a little wear and tear your body can handle, but it can't handle it forever. And everyone's different. Some can handle more wear and tear than others, but you'll never know which one you are until it's too late. I'm not saying don't do it, just make educated decisions and please understand fully (not partially) the consequences of your actions. I would just like to try and help people not to make the same mistakes I did, not preach or anything. I would be a lot better off now if I'd cut down a bit, you know? I don't regret trying them (usually nothing wrong with trying), but I do regret doing drugs regularly. |
| they | (reply to anonymous) posted 6-Jun-2000 1:13pm #8: I have heard about recent research saying it is less dangerous than cigarette smoke... Since you say I'm wrong, why don't you prove it? |
| anonymous | posted 6-Jun-2000 10:51pm My friends from school who have been doing pot for a few years now look terrible. Its just amazing how much they've changed! My brother used to be really intelligent with IQ of 140 something and now he has trouble remembering his own name when he's sober. His girlfriend is brown and her breasts and skin hang off of her like she was 70. None of my male friends have a sex drive at all any more. They sit around getting fat and throwing things at the television. I am so glad I never got involved with them. It destroys people. I miss my brother. He and his girlfriend got high on pot and thought they could jump off a bridge a few months back. |
| romkey | (reply to anonymous) posted 6-Jun-2000 11:09pm people destroy themselves. Pot is just an implement that they use, like cars or alcohol or sex or food. People need to start taking more responsibility for their own actions and not keep blaming them on everything around them. |

| earth | posted 9-Jun-2000 2:23pm I think there is nothing wrong with smoking pot. What you do with your life is your business. I wish I could still smoke, but some person started drug testing and put a stop to my relaxing time. If I don't come to work "high" what's the problem. Our governments ass is just too tight. Lighten up America. |

| Delirium | posted 10-Jun-2000 1:08am There was a time when I was a heavy pot smoker, but I've slowed down since then. I get the craving for it every now and then. It's not something I'll turn down if I were around it. I just don't feel the need to smoke it on a daily basis anymore. |

| icurok | posted 13-Jun-2000 7:50am When I was at university, it was simply something that was done as an alternative to getting drunk. We didn't do it because it was cool, not because it got you into any exclusive "ruling cliques" (whatever they are) and certainly not because we felt rebellious doing something illegal. It was simply cheaper. We generally got better value for money and a nicer evening on pot than we did on alcohol. We'd put in half of the money we would've spent on a night out, get some pot and gather in someone's room talking bullcrap till the sun came up. And all the time we were doing it, we never hit anyone, got hit, got arrested, drove a car, crashed a car, lost a job, lost someone else's job or degraded ourselves in any way. Nowadays, I don't smoke it because it doesn't suit my lifestyle. I'm not 19 anymore. I need my sleep, and I can't lounge around smoking pot all night (much as I'd like to). Oh and anonymous#4. I'm surprised you've received so much attention after your outburst. It was both ill thought-out and irrational. Either you were exaggerating in the heat of the moment when you said that drug-users should be shot on sight (which is illegal and immoral and totally against the rule of law in any civilized society) or you actually meant it. If you were exaggerating, then your entire argument loses credibility as you shouldn't really say things you don't mean in order to force a point. If you really meant it, then I sincerely hope you are in no position of authority, as you obviously have scant regard for human life. |
| SmoothLkeSean | posted 13-Jun-2000 7:28pm There is nothing wrong with smoking weed, and if it were legal like alcohol, which is worse for you, nobody would have a problem with it. But since it is illegal, ignorant brainwashed people look down on it, even alcoholics. |

I know chronic smokers as well who were once beautiful people who look like hell now and say dude a lot. Pot can be an enjoyable high but should be saved for special/important occasions, in my opinion. All the anti-people out there need to chill, try some substance abuse, and realize that in moderation, its NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL! |
