What was the very first costume you ever wore for Halloween?

My very first Halloween in the US was in 1974.
I went trick or treating for the very first time dressed as a little old lady. I wore a long dress and a shawl and my mother put powder in my hair to make it look gray and we brushed Avon's Brush On Peel Off Mask onto my little face and as it dried I became all wrinkled like an apple on a windowsill!!!!!

I was a wizard. I think I was three years old. There's actually a really cute story to this. The first Halloween I went trick-or-treating (like I said, I think I was three), I got all dressed up and went out with my brother and father. I followed phi up to the first door, and held out my bag; when they put candy in it, my jaw dropped, and I stared in disbelief: free candy?! No way! So the next night, I put on my costume again, and grabbed my sack, all ready to go...

As far as I remember, the palm tree was my first Hallowe'en dress-up, American style.

I was one of the apes from "Planet of the Apes".

I believe it was a witch costume that my grandmother made for me.

Vampire. As I got older, I grew out of it. Funny how some people never did the same.

I remember when I was in kindergarten or first grade I wore a leopard costume which was actually very much like a set of leopard-print pajamas. I think the outfit had a tail which you could tie on with a sash around your waist. When I got home I took off the mask and tail and went to bed. I may have had a costume before that, but that's the first one I remember.

I went as Ace Frehley from Kiss. In fact, I went as Ace for eight years straight. I wish I still had any of those costumes.

So was I ! After I was "Planet of the Apes" I too was Ace Frehley! You got me on the 8 years straight, though. I think I was Ace for maybe only 4 years. My mother saved the costume, it's at her house.

That's cool! I made a new costume every year, to match whatever costume they were using at the time. Went through lots of cardboard, tin foil, and black tights I can tell you! At least my mom has a few pictures still.

I don't remember but the first one I do remember... must have been when I was eight, was a cylon (from Battlestar Galactica?). I think it looked pretty stupid but at the time I thought BG was the ultimate in chic.

I was dressed up as Zorro.

Question: So far this survey has gotten a pretty low approval rating. Was this survey really that bad? Personally I thought this would have been a fun survey when I thought of it. Just curious.

I had to consult the photo album for this one. I don't know if it was the first, but it is the first that I have a picture for...Halloween 1965 (I was 3) My brother and I were dressed as Jack and Jill (You know, from the nursery rhyme) I was Jill. Perhaps my first torrid taste of transvestism!

I dressed as a zombie last year. It was my first Halloween and I looked really scary. We don't celebrate Halloween in Australia (or at least we didn't when I was a kid).

A mouse costume that my mother made me. I was about 4 at the time.
