| truss | posted 14-May-1998 12:29pm You know... I'd have to do a lot of research just to decide. I don't have a single "dream" location that I've longed to see for eons. |
| elijahblue | posted 14-May-1998 12:47pm There are tons of places I would like to go, including: Egypt, Alaska, Greek islands, Japan, Spain, Cote d'Azur... I would be happy to go to any of these places, or to revisit Europe, depending on who my traveling companion was, and how much time and money I had to spend. |
| daver | posted 14-May-1998 12:55pm Somewhere mountainous, wooded, near the ocean, and far from civilization. |
| plots | posted 14-May-1998 12:59pm Mars...? No, but somewhere warm, with ocean and NO people... Preferably sailing.... |
| reality | posted 14-May-1998 1:30pm anyplace I could have a conversation with a Totoro (and get a ride on a cat bus..). Most any of the worlds in the fantasy series I like (Middle Earth, Midkemia, the setting or Robert Jordan's books, or the series Memory Sorrow and Thorn from Tad Williams). If it had to be someplace real, I'd wanna see the great wall, and the pyramids (I have already been to Stonehenge). Other than that, the moon would be spiffy, or just space in general. too many options. |
| fiore | posted 14-May-1998 1:37pm A trip around the world. No time limit on it either. |

| Resy | posted 14-May-1998 1:49pm luxury hotel ... penthouse suite ... in a city near the ocean where I could go to the symphony, attend a play, and visit an aquarium ... of course, the limo would take me anywhere else I wanted to go ... My idea on this changes from time to time and sometimes I'd rather be in a mountain cabin near a stream with a fishing pole ... but not today. |
| jonas | posted 14-May-1998 1:59pm Mars! Wohoo, who's with me? |
| doom | posted 14-May-1998 2:05pm The plan right now is to spend at least a month in Australia in 2000, some time spent at the Olympics and the rest touring the country. |

| lisashea | posted 14-May-1998 2:18pm I had my first dream vacation last year - three weeks in a house in Ireland. Bob's parents own it, so we hung out with relatives and got to experience "real life" there. I love the Irish culture and have studied it for a while, so I got to hike and explore all of those ancient spots I knew about. Next? I run a feudal Japan SIG and would love to spend a month with a Japanese family. I have studied their history for many, many years, have reviewed all of the local Japanese restaurants and love sushi. I think I would love to experience the food, culture, history, geography, you name it. |
| Pomeranian | posted 14-May-1998 2:29pm In the realm of possibility, I would love to go to Tibet...however, if I were to tweak the notion of "dream" a bit, I would love to go on the first vacation-package tour to another planet. The view from say, Mars, would be fantastic. |

| Pigeon | posted 14-May-1998 3:32pm I would travel the enire world from Europe to Greenland to Thailand to Botswana.. The whole thing.. I wouldn't miss a single street |
| Twanger | posted 14-May-1998 3:53pm Some place with a fancy hotel with a really cool pool...and a beach. Basic goal: lie around and feel no pressure to do anything at all, but if I want to, have there be some lazy activities. Maybe somewhere in hawaii...? I'm not really sure I'm afraid. |
| lizzie | posted 14-May-1998 4:33pm Some place that doesn't make me sneeze, that isn't too hot, too cold, or too rainy, with lots of pretty views and modern facilities. Cool architecture is a big plus. Actually, ever since I was a kid I wanted to go to Stewart Island off the coast of New Zealand, but only because my last name is Stewart. |

| kadai | posted 14-May-1998 8:24pm Anyplace where I had the options of not: shopping or staying in a stuffy hotel. Hot running water is a plus. |

| dab | posted 15-May-1998 1:17am I keep saying that I'm going to see Alaska some day so I guess Alaska. Mars? I didn't think of that. Triton then. |
| Jaime | posted 15-May-1998 3:11am Not very far from my house. Spanish Mediterranean coast is the best land of the World for me. |
| bill | posted 15-May-1998 8:02am Anywhere with Jen... |
| lelle | posted 15-May-1998 8:12am Hmmm... Since I can't decide, I guess a trip around the world, including the Concorde, QEII, and the Orient Express for starters. With as much time as I wanted in each place. |

| hunter | posted 16-May-1998 2:10am I have so many dream vacations...I hope to accomplish them all within my lifetime. I'd like to learn to scuba and spend some time diving off the Great Barrier Reef and then tour Australia for about a month. I'd like to visit Portugal. I'd like to rent a castle from the UK Ministry of the Treasury. I'd like to visit Hawaii. I'd like to take Julia Child's cooking course in Venice. I'd like to see the pyramids of Egypt. I'd like to drive to the southern tip of South America from the US. I'd like to visit Japan with my boyfriend and go on a walking tour like he did a few years ago, tho' probably in a different area. I'd like to visit Ireland. I'd like to visit Iceland--preferably in the summer. I'd like to spend about a month in southern France. I'd like to go back to Amsterdam and London and Munich and Barcelona and Berlin. I'd like to go to New Orleans. I'd like to cruise the Greek islands. I'd like to visit Scotland. I think if the time ever comes I'm going to fall back on the tradition of the man choosing the honeymoon plan, since I'll never be able to make up my mind. |

| nbarone | posted 17-May-1998 11:27pm how realistic do i have to be? i'd love a trip to walk on the moon. i'd be satisfied with a couple of days in orbit for sightseeing and zero-g party games... if you are going to tie me down to the surface of this little ol' planet, then i'll take a trip to St. Petersburg (russia, not florida) or ireland |
| BadtzMaru | posted 20-May-1998 2:20am A tour of Europe, staying as long as we wanted. |
| joe | posted 24-May-1998 5:58pm i would be alone on an island with lots of pineapple trees and a long sandy beach. my company gave me a bonus last year of an all-expense-paid (flight, hotel, per diem) week in Paris, New York, Cabo San Lucas, or Hawaii. I gave it to a co-worker, since a trip by myself to any of those spots would be depressing, and I've ben to them all many times anyway, and also i had no one else to take. i don't really know what to d owith my free time so the idea of a vacation is anathema to me***Resy: sounds like san francisco! |
| phi | posted 25-May-1998 12:31pm Marrakech. Fes. Galway. Canyon de Chelly. San Pedro de Atacama. Wait, I've been to all these places. Melbourne. Algiers, if it were safe. Puerto Montt. Amsterdam. Prague. Wherever I went, though, I'd focus much more locally than most travellers seem to, which is why I haven't named any countries on this list. |

| gilly | posted 15-Aug-1998 9:31pm Take a year and wander around the globe, being sure to check out the Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England, Australia, Alaska, Hungary, and France. I'd like to balance it so it's about 2/3 sightseeing and 1/3 lounging around in glorious places being fed fruit by the suntanned natives. |
