I've heard of alcoholism and addiction to heroin, but lime disease? That must be tough to kick.

No, but I know someone who has and has gone thru at least a year of antibiotics -- she's feeling much better now. My friend's stepmom also has Lyme disease (she was one of the first patients diagnosed with it) but apparently it has reached her brain, so the antibiotics can't help her much (I don't know her personally, though.)

Sadly, Oscar, that's not necessarily true. An acquaintance of mine had it for many years before it was properly diagnosed. She was suffering pretty severe joint pain and exhaustion which was attributed to a series of diagnoses ranging from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, to Arthritis, to Leukemia. Had they diagnosed it correctly they could have halted the nerve damage, but by the time anyone thought to test for it a huge amount a nerve tissue had been destroyed.

I had it a long time ago, but I have no symptoms at this time. Blood tests are negative.

I guess I need to study the disease.

I haven't been anywhere near any ticks in quite a while.
