| Zang | posted 1-May-2000 6:55pm No. Not unless you include situations where you go to a ciniplex with no particular film in mind, and select something based on what's starting soon and what limited info you glean from the poster. I interpreted the question as: I'm walking down the street, see a movie poster, like the artwork, and go in and see the film. |
| mandy | posted 1-May-2000 7:09pm I don't think so. |
| pandora | posted 1-May-2000 8:02pm I may have...but I don't remember (That's right folks, the dog is back!!) |

| micah | posted 2-May-2000 4:40am Nay not. |
| dab | posted 2-May-2000 7:51am No, but I've bought a book because I liked the cover. |
| ILJ | posted 2-May-2000 8:50am I don't remember having done so but it's possible. I can't think of a movie where all I saw about it beforehand was the poster. |
| bill | posted 2-May-2000 9:17am I prefer knowing very little about a film before I go see it. Usually a poster gives me just enough to make a decision. I'd probably be happiest making all my movie decisions based on posters. |
| drdt | posted 2-May-2000 9:33am 'The Game' springs to mind, though it wasn't a poster, it was a billboard. I'm with bill on this. No info is good info, though I'd prefer making all of my movie decisions based on friend's recommendations without even knowing the title :) |
| bill | posted 2-May-2000 9:42am Yes, all I really want is "It's good, go see it" or "It's bad, don't bother". Plot summaries ruin movies. Some trailers for movies are really annoying, they give you an outline for the entire plot... and, I'm left wondering why I should bother. |
| mary | posted 2-May-2000 2:06pm I don't think so. |

| Maarten | posted 3-May-2000 4:03pm Yes, Fitzcarraldo:
|
| ILJ | posted 3-May-2000 4:43pm Damn, that is a pretty cool poster! Not the kind of poster that would get me to go see a movie, but the name Werner Herzog on it would... |
| lion | posted 3-May-2000 7:38pm vos, wow! I completely forgot I saw that movie a few years back. |
| joachim | posted 5-May-2000 11:06am Fitzcarraldo was a great movie. I keep trying to get my friends to see Herzog's Nosferatu but they don't want to. Maybe it's because I usually describe it as a "slow, gray, nearly silent film with a lot of rats in it". |
| Oscar | posted 5-May-2000 4:24pm nope |
| Frostbrand | posted 6-May-2000 4:00pm Yes, and I ended up regretting it. The poster was for Silence Of The Lambs. I found that movie incredibly boring. I did enjoy the ending however. |
| they | posted 6-May-2000 5:47pm RimesWithOrange: Read the book.. It's good... I bought Hannibal, but I haven't been able to get into it. |
| liquidliqhtninq | posted 6-May-2000 10:03pm LOL the "I don't watch movies" answer made me laugh for 10 minutes straight! |
| Lizdawn | posted 25-May-2000 12:54am Only if a certain actor/actress I really enjoy is on that poster. Not just because it's "pretty" or anything. |
| wesley | posted 25-May-2000 7:48am If I go to a movie I already know what I want to see. I don't decide after I get there. |
| regis | (reply to they) posted 27-May-2000 5:13pm "hannibal" is the first harris book that i didn't really like. i don't want to post spoilers, so suffice it to say that the further into the book i got the less i enjoyed it, and the near-ending section made me think that harris wanted to see how unfilmable he could make it. |
