No. Not unless you include situations where you go to a ciniplex with no particular film in mind, and select something based on what's starting soon and what limited info you glean from the poster. I interpreted the question as: I'm walking down the street, see a movie poster, like the artwork, and go in and see the film.

No, but I've bought a book because I liked the cover.

I don't remember having done so but it's possible. I can't think of a movie where all I saw about it beforehand was the poster.

I prefer knowing very little about a film before I go see it. Usually a poster gives me just enough to make a decision. I'd probably be happiest making all my movie decisions based on posters.

'The Game' springs to mind, though it wasn't a poster, it was a billboard.

I'm with bill on this. No info is good info, though I'd prefer making all of my movie decisions based on friend's recommendations without even knowing the title :)

Yes, all I really want is "It's good, go see it" or "It's bad, don't bother". Plot summaries ruin movies. Some trailers for movies are really annoying, they give you an outline for the entire plot... and, I'm left wondering why I should bother.

Yes, Fitzcarraldo:

Damn, that is a pretty cool poster! Not the kind of poster that would get me to go see a movie, but the name Werner Herzog on it would...

Fitzcarraldo was a great movie. I keep trying to get my friends to see Herzog's Nosferatu but they don't want to. Maybe it's because I usually describe it as a "slow, gray, nearly silent film with a lot of rats in it".

Yes, and I ended up regretting it. The poster was for Silence Of The Lambs. I found that movie incredibly boring. I did enjoy the ending however.

Only if a certain actor/actress I really enjoy is on that poster. Not just because it's "pretty" or anything.

If I go to a movie I already know what I want to see. I don't decide after I get there.

"hannibal" is the first harris book that i didn't really like. i don't want to post spoilers, so suffice it to say that the further into the book i got the less i enjoyed it, and the near-ending section made me think that harris wanted to see how unfilmable he could make it.
