$24.95. Which is too much, but I don't really want to go through the hassle of getting a new ISP and new email address. Maybe when cable access is available in my city.

I could answer four different ways depending on how you look at it. So I marked them all.

nothing at all right now, my college campus has a sweet cable LAN that's extended into the dorms this year via my lovely cisco router mating w/ my free, university supplied ethernet card

in a week, however... it's back to the slowness of phone line modem connection. blah.

I have several Internet connections (the DSL that hosts surveycentral, ugtz and apocalypse.org; a T1 for home in New Hampshire; a CDPD wireless feed and AT&T Worldnet for when I'm travelling) with several different costs

Nothing. One of the benefits of working for an ISP.

My father-in-law pays for it. He's not in this household. He is, in fact, several states away.

I get free access at work - one of the benefits of working for an ISP. At home, I use a flat-rate ISP with unmetered phone calls (which is still fairly uncommon in the UK - with most ISPs, you pay metered phone calls while online). Actually, I have accounts with several free ISPs - it's handy if one of them is ever having dial-up problems of any kind.

Enh- you guys have a DSL?

romkey, when you say "the DSL that host ugtz, survey central, etc..." do they provide hosting? is there a certain amount of space allocated with a DSL...or do you pay extra for hosting...oh yeah...how much are .org domain names?

magbast - the DSL service I'm using is from UUNET. I have a class C network number (256 addresses) that I've had since the late 80's, and they route the network traffic for my network number over the DSL link. The hosting is done on our own computers; I run the computer that is apocalypse.org and surveycentral.org, bill runs the ugtz computer (and the surveycentral side of apocalypse.org)

org domain names cost the same as all the others... I think it's about $35/year right now but I'm not 100% certain - you may be able to get a slightly better price through one of the new domain registrars

I've heard that http://www.joker.com has excellent prices for domains - though, I've never used them.

I just switched to RCN Cable modem, but I'm also getting phone service from them. It's $59 for both, $39 for just the modem I think.

It cost my $20.00 a month for up to 150 hours, which I don't think is too bad.

Oh, I should mention that I had been using netzero.com - a free ISP, you just need to have their ad on your screen. ...not bad for free.

Bill: With Juno, it's free (or it was, I'm not sure now).. and you can minimize the ad.

I have 4 different ones, for complicated reasons. 2 are free, one is $19.99, and one varies by how much space I use; currently it's $29.50.
