| Kristal_Rose | posted 27-Apr-2000 5:49pm Engineers: Re how cats fall on their feet: Consider the cat pivot-hinged at the center. At both ends the cat can extend or retract it's limbs. If one end is extended & the other retracted, the comparable centrifugal force's required to spin the ends differ. This extension/contraction allows the cat to overcome what would otherwise have become an 'equal & opposite reation' in twisting their body to reorient. I found this in a scientific american when I was a teen.It included stop motion photography. Science is just an excuse to abuse cats. |
