The same on both hands. I'm so symmetrical.

I consider my ring finger the finger next to my pinky. In this case I would say my middle finger is longer.

dirtbag - You're correct about which finger is which, but the survey isn't asking about your middle finger, or about which finger on your hand is the longest. It's just comparing your index and ring fingers.

The study you refer to claims first that finger length is associated with androgens, and second that finger length is associated with sexual preference, and that therefore sexual preference can be associated with androgens. This survey is designed to test the first assertion (but not the second) through use of the advanced statistics feature.

So far, the first assertion (that men have longer ring fingers, relative to their index fingers, than women do) is bearing out, although only rather weakly.

I've just read the article in the newspaper that talks about that study. I think it's just crazy! Dr. Breedlove says that finger length is associated with sexual preference (I'm gay and have quite a number of gay friends and we've been laughing all day long!).

The study says gays and lesbians were exposed to high levels of androgens when in the uterus. That would explain also (I'm just reading it from the paper, it's not a personal opinion) that gays have a larger sexual organ than straight people!

How can anybody take it seriously? Some scientists seem to be dying to find an explanation for homosexuality. Some time ago it was due to some pink gene, afterwards it was some stuff in the cerebelum... The funny point is that when my parents knew I was gay, they went to a doctor and asked him if there was any explanation (not a cure, of course, they're not that silly). The doc answered it was possibly due to the extra estrogens my mother had been taken during her pregnancy in order to keep the child. You see: the contrary of Dr. Breedlove's theory.

Dr. Breedlove is clearly not taking into account the other ways that queers might be stretching their index fingers...

I read a similar study, and they went on to say that this means men and women are biologically different, therefore women should stay in the home and raise the children. Good logic, eh?

Brian: definitely not. I've been several years of my life doing "research" (that's a polite way to call it) on that subject and I can say scientifically that Dr. Breedlove's theory doesn't apply in reality. I wish it would!

So let me see if I get this. If your ring fingers are longer than your index fingers then you're probably gay? Well, so much for that theory. My ring fingers are quite a bit longer. I'd be fine with it if I was gay, but I'm pretty well in touch with my sexuality and there's not a heck of a lot of gay in there. jaff: long time, & you caught the first meaningless line, except that it related to the Peter Seller's movie, "Dr. Strangelove, or how I learned to stop worrying & love the bomb" which 'Breedlove' reminded me of. & besides possible nanotech annihilisms of the planet, Ive moved into contemplations of the void, or Chesed on the tree of life. I was expecting other's to translate it as some kind of sexual innuendo.
And they're so close to publicly being able to grow or transplant a female reproductive system into a born male body. In case 'window treatment' was something that extended into cosmetic surgery. But what it really meant for me (it all start's with window treatment) was manipulating one's tv. I'd just mentioned on a prior survey controlling my radio by thought and was considering describing how I manifest show's about wormholes while opening a spiritual particle stream from just behind me to my tv set and swim in place in the golden diamond stream (there are other color streams too) like a sincrosa apetitosa or kirk waiting in the teleporter. I have a couple freinds who do this too. Anyone who meditates on their traslations of the Seals of Solomon can do it. I practice my skills using the tv to introduce chosen patterns & snow colors. I'm waiting for some spare time to use it for sculpting a special rock I have. I haven't dared to actually teleport in the flesh yet. Last I tried I was experiencing what I thought to be a bad electrical force vibrating my body apart. My guru's guru's guru, Bhagavan was rumored to teleport continually ahead on the road to shake up a bus driver who wouldn't pick up someone of his caste. Eventually the driver decided picking him up was easier on his sanity.

I heard of a similar study a while ago, except in this one it was claimed that people with a longer ring finger had a larger sex drive (I think I could guess which finger on the researchers hand was longer ). Needless to say I have little faith in it...

This is a strange question? Does this have to do with the new thing that if your index finger is shorter then your ring finger you are gay?

I never figured out just how to measure this - I think my index finger is longer but just a slight movement makes the ring finger appear longer.
