| natsim | posted 30-Mar-2000 1:38pm It depends entirely on what I'm wearing. |
| Jody | posted 30-Mar-2000 1:54pm With slacks, I prefer flats. With dresses or skirts (which I wear once a year or less) I prefer low, comfortable heels. |
| they | posted 30-Mar-2000 2:04pm Heels? Ha! |
| they | posted 30-Mar-2000 2:05pm And why do you have to be female to wear heels? |
| dirtbag | posted 30-Mar-2000 2:06pm Brian I agree with you 100% |
| dirtbag | posted 30-Mar-2000 2:07pm They you do not have to be female to wear heels but this was for guys that don't wear heels. |
| pcpr | posted 30-Mar-2000 2:23pm dirtbag -- I prefer flats. I am male. There was a time long, long ago, lost somewhere in mid-70's when men not only could but were encouraged to wear "high" heels (women probably laughed at us, it's maybe "medium" heels for them). And to this very day I have friends who wear cowboy boots with heels, even though they're not by any stretch of imagination "high," they're in no way "flat" either. I figured you wanted to ask women only, so I marked "I'm not female" for what's worth. Brian -- while I agree with you that some styles of high-heel shoes are hazardous to one's health, it's not always the case. In the mid seventies I was suffering from back pain related to flat feet. My orthopedist recommended that I could wear expensive orthotics if I wanted to, but if I didn't mind taking advantage of the fashion at the time I should just wear heels. It did help me, but I didn't like it and stopped wearing them as soon as I could (before the fashion changed). He did warn me that very high heels introduce a lot of problems, and, at that time (women were wearing high-platform shoes) he was spending a lot of his time mending broken legs and arms when people would just fall and injure themselves, besides the standard back problems associated with high heels. |
| Enheduanna | posted 30-Mar-2000 2:35pm I checked "high" heels, although I guess that's a bit of an exaggeration--I like fairly low high heels--maybe 1 1/2 inches or so, and with a nice big surface area so I don't turn my ankle. And I wear them so infrequently that I haven't noticed any exacerbated joint problems. Stillettos are right out. |
| ILJ | posted 30-Mar-2000 2:47pm Single choice? But I'm not female and I prefer flats. Damn. |
| pcpr | posted 30-Mar-2000 3:19pm ILJ -- exactly... |
| mary | posted 30-Mar-2000 6:21pm I do not have feet lol lol okay? I love dresses especially summer dresses, I love earthy flat sandals and I also love wearing tall weird shoes with my dresses. |
| romkey | posted 30-Mar-2000 6:40pm some men wear them too, you know... |
| mandy | posted 30-Mar-2000 8:25pm IT DEPENDS!!!!! |
| bluebird1974 | posted 30-Mar-2000 10:51pm lol this is funny. |
| magbast | posted 31-Mar-2000 12:41am mary, some people *don't* have feet... |
| sequel | posted 31-Mar-2000 12:11pm I DO NOT HAVE A PREFERENCE. Would it have been so hard to include an option for this? |
| mary | posted 31-Mar-2000 12:15pm magbast: I know that, but it was unexpected. |
| Jane | posted 31-Mar-2000 3:04pm I don't mind heels that much, because some of them really do make my legs look longer. There aren't very many options when it comes to finding flats to wear to dress up. I do have one pair of really cute black flats that look like ballet slippers that I wear with my little black dress. Other than that, I usually wear reasonably short heels. |
| jaff | posted 1-Apr-2000 1:30am heels... they give calves that sexy orgasm curve |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 1-Apr-2000 6:29am I like a pair of clarks springers (british) (in raspberry sherbut or sand suede): comfy, dressy, tough enough to do a couple years of trail hiking. I can dance wild sexy flowing celestial punk in high heels, but I prefer to take them off, soon after I enter. I leave them on when hosting public receptions. My preference is barefoot on grass & beach. I like hopping 6' dashes across tall splashy beach rocks in n. ca,us |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 1-Apr-2000 6:41am It's not the long legs, it's that the longer legs make you look thinner. I have some white go-go boots I would love to wear, but they don't come off easily, take too much room on my bike, but mostly are murder on my back. Oh, yes, clarks are hiking dress sandals. Men, you think your feet smell & womens do not. It's open vs. closed shoes to a large extent. |
| gilly | posted 1-Apr-2000 9:44pm I like the way heels look, but I hate the way they feel. |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 1-Apr-2000 10:19pm Yea, you're back. |
| SueBee | posted 2-Apr-2000 2:51pm I prefer shoes that are not torture devices. Dress shoes suck! |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 2-Apr-2000 11:57pm How about this survey: "when on your back, do you prefer heels or flats", you know, to weed out the chiropractic aspect of the question. |
| pcpr | posted 3-Apr-2000 4:53am KR: Wouldn't that be murder on the "mattress" if you have a waterbed (or airbed, for that matter)? |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 3-Apr-2000 5:05am Wish I could find out. |
| drdt | posted 3-Apr-2000 6:05pm K_R: I thought men thought their feet smelled and women's didn't because men generally like the smell of women's feet. |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 3-Apr-2000 9:28pm Maybe I can fit that 'body scents' survey in tonight. |
| mary | posted 7-Apr-2000 3:48pm My feet stink after wearing panty hose and dress shoes all day long, but it does not even compare to my S/O's feet. I think male pisces have stinky feet, but I could be wrong. Well, feet are pisces main body part. |
| magbast | posted 7-Apr-2000 11:43pm my feet don't stink |
| kneesocks | posted 10-Apr-2000 11:56pm Much more comfortable. Also, my boyfriend prefers me in flats. |
| Trish | posted 14-Apr-2000 10:52pm Pants, flats, bare ankles - I like that combination best of all. |
| cableknit | posted 14-Apr-2000 11:19pm I agree with Trish. That's a great combination. |
| Joga | posted 22-Apr-2000 2:43am I love platforms. I can stand the regular high heel. Yuck! |
| ShielaAnn | posted 26-May-2000 1:10am I wear heels all the time, even at home doing housework. I have worn heels for so long that flats hurt my feet. |
| Enheduanna | posted 26-May-2000 9:36am Does anyone else get that thing where if you take your high-heeled shoes off after you've been wearing them for a while, you feel like you're standing at a backwards slant? |
| Beachy | posted 27-May-2000 5:39am I tend to find heels become unbearable and have to be taken off five minutes into any social engagement. I like to be barefoot, but in the situations one's forced into heels, it's almost never appropriate. |
| jjjj | posted 17-Feb-2006 6:37pm I like to see women in heels because it makes them look hotter and more reformed |
| danielle001 | posted 24-Mar-2007 4:29am almost never caught without heels on. they make my butt look good and help me feel oh so feminine. |
| danielle001 | (reply to jjjj) posted 24-Mar-2007 4:34am you would like me in heels. =) |
| Jojo01 | posted 28-Nov-2008 10:21pm Sometimes I wear very confortable 2" high-heeled shoes, but almost all time and in anyplace I wear ballet flats. I fell good wearing them and I have now about 120 pairs. By the way; I an a guy. |
| Edenhallgirl | posted 14-Aug-2009 12:08am Flats. |

What the fudge is wrong with you? How can any woman in her right mind wear heels? I am morally opposed to heels as they can cause severe foot, leg, and back problems, and they are simply unattractive. And you know what's worse than heels? Stillettos! My god who wears these things? No wonder they're called stillettos. They look like swords with feet attahced! I say we burn all high heels. Maybe they do make your legs look longer, but the aforementioned back, leg, and foot problems are too high a price to pay.
