Is animation "just for kids"?

Some people think animation is only for entertaining the younger crowd, and others think it's just another medium for artistic expression and can be used effectively for all ages. What do you think?

I love Disney animated movies, and I think it was They who said elsewhere that Bugs Bunny has a lot of humor that is meant for adults. I think it's a great art form for all ages.

Depends on the animation of course. I think most kids won't get the humor of Duckman, or The Simpsons.

Sorry, but if you think "The Simpsons" or "South Park" or "Princess Mononoke" or "Robotech" are for kids, don't have kids. (Although I let my kid watch "The Simpsons" I make her aware that some of the behavior on the show is NOT good behavior.

It's just another medium, and can be used for adult purposes as well as child-like purposes. "Heavy Metal" anyone?

"Toy Story II" and "The Iron Giant" rank among my top three movies this year, in a hell of a good movie year. That says something about the maturity of the medium, I think.

Animation can not be described as just another artistic medium. It is the greatest artistic mediuum because it can be seen anywhere!!!!

Even animation designed for kids is also sometimes designed for adults, too. The Tigger Movie, off all things, had some of the most beautiful backgrounds I have seen in an film.

Off course, for adult animation check out Spike & Mike's if it tours to your town.
