| romkey | posted 25-Mar-2000 9:24am Bertucci's is a (mostly) New England area chain that has much better pizza than any of these that I've tried (except for my own). |
| kiasu | posted 25-Mar-2000 10:06am None of these places has the best pizza. |
| Enheduanna | posted 25-Mar-2000 10:47am In Boston, Bertucci's; in New York, a lot of places. |
| drdt | posted 25-Mar-2000 11:45am You call that crap pizza? Sbarro is the most passable of those you list, but I'll stick with Bertucci's and Uno's, thank you very much. |
| Matt | posted 25-Mar-2000 12:07pm Pizzaiolle. Its a local restaurant that I've been going to since I was a kid, they have amazing pizza there. There pizzas are cooked in a wood burning oven. They have this Pizza aux Escargots thats just terrific!!! |
| Maarten | posted 25-Mar-2000 12:31pm Pizza aux Escargots!! Wow, I'd love to try one of those! I'm taking the plane tonight, Matt! |
| they | posted 25-Mar-2000 12:46pm Is Donato's local to Cincinnati? I know Larosa's is and is very popular there.. although I don't like it. Is Godfather's still around? What about Noble Roman's? |
| SueBee | posted 25-Mar-2000 2:09pm Matt - Do you suppose those are the same snails you and your cousin raced? |
| mandy | posted 25-Mar-2000 2:53pm Sbarro has incredible Calzones for a Franchise. I prefer non chain Pizzarias. There is a place in town called Paccioni's. OMIGOD....Hearthfired Pizza and Calzones with exotic vegetables and gourmet Cheeeeezes..... |
| SueBee | posted 25-Mar-2000 5:38pm Don't forget. The two local breweries have mighty fine hearth fired pizza, too. (And better beer than Pacci's!) |
| Frostbrand | posted 25-Mar-2000 7:33pm Papa John's and a local parlor named Pudge Bros. (tie) |
| milktree | posted 25-Mar-2000 10:39pm Nick's Pizza in Medford Mass. they really know how big the chunks of garlic should be. |
| Matt | posted 26-Mar-2000 2:05am Sue, they might, but they'd have traveled a whole lot ;) Those ones I raced was back in a little village in Provence... and there, most of the people there would go in the fields and pick them out and cook them, they were really good. So I'm not sure if a lot of them would have made it this far ;) Vos, you wouldnt be disappointed hehe I've been enjoying that pizza since I was about 5!!! I still remember the waiters were really surprised when I'd ask for that hehe :) |
| bill | posted 26-Mar-2000 4:05am Center Pizza, down the street from me. Actually, I like the Dominos near us too. I don't like Pizza Slut very much. Bertucci's is OK, though a bit too watery sometimes. I like Papa Ginos sometimes. I think I've had Sbarro pizza, but I can't remember. I think an interesting thing to note is that I probably prefer Greek pizza to Italian. I like the thick, firm crust with pizza wedges that stay ridged when you hold them. My perception of Italian pizza is that it's quite soft and I have to roll it up to hold it, and I dislike that. |
| supplicant | posted 26-Mar-2000 12:26pm bill: If you think Italian pizza is bad on the floppiness scale you should *really* avoid Turkish pizza then |
| ILJ | posted 27-Mar-2000 11:54am Well of course homemade is always best. Of the others I'd probably pick local parlor...Sal's North End is awesome. Papa John's is the worst pizza I've ever thrown away. |

| Frostbrand | posted 27-Mar-2000 7:41pm mary: Yep. |
| bill | posted 27-Mar-2000 10:37pm My homemade pizza is not the best. It's passable and fun, but most pizza places near me do a better job. |
| doom | posted 28-Mar-2000 3:24pm My favorite is Papa Gino's. |
| mary | posted 30-Mar-2000 3:52pm Brian: I knew that, what area? |
| Frostbrand | posted 1-Apr-2000 1:51am mary: The metro area. Think there are ones in Littleton, Ft. Collins, and Saudi Aurora, and the People's Republic of Boulder. |
| ILJ | posted 2-Apr-2000 5:10pm doom: Papa Gino's?!? Wow, you must have some really bad pizza places where you live. |
| guillem | posted 3-Apr-2000 11:48am Don't care, don't like pizza, never been to these places... |
| yorricks | posted 3-Apr-2000 5:28pm Mabe's. Good luck trying to find it anywhere but here. |

| Analog | posted 7-Apr-2000 5:21pm Because of this survey, I had to drive to Providence, Rhode Island so that I could have a pizza from Caserta Pizzeria. It's a 50 minute drive each way, but the pizza is well worth it. Yum. |

But I never eat my pizza in such a fastfood place, I always go to an Italian restaurant.
