Of the ones listed, what kind of hard alcohol do you prefer? (assuming the highest quality and perfect conditions)

None of the above. I like sherry or red wine, and some mixed drinks. I don't like hard liquor of any kind.

Of the ones listed, tequila is the only one I do shots of with any pleasure, so I picked that. I enjoy all of them from time to time. If there are any vodka lovers in the SF area, you should try Infusions in SoMa...they have reasonably good food and their own infused vodkas. Yummy!

Vodka is the only one I can use for shots. Others, like rum and tequila, I like in mixed drinks.

Absolut Cranberry, baby. I usually don't drink hard stuff by itself. Absolut Vodka and cranberry juice I like a lot. I have tried flavored vodka, when I was in Italy, and I really liked those.

Well, this is not the same as for bier. In hard alcohol I don't like the taste, I like the effects. And for best effects I use always Whiskey, specially the classical scotch malt.

If I *have* to choose one, vodka, because it's more easily camouflaged.

Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, and yuck. I'll occasionally drink Godiva liqueur, or Chambord, or Fra'Angelico, or Amaretto; maybe once or twice a year.

Not a big hard liquor fan, but those drinks I can stand generally have a lot of rum and fruit juice.

I don't drink much, so I guess I shouldn't answer this question. I like a good rum and coke...much more coke than rum, though.

But, like Kaluha (sp?), I prefer my hard liquors watered down with something. In the case of Rum, Coca-Cola.

So far, I haven't really explored hard liquor.. I tend to stick to occasional beer/wine/vodka+___ juice. Which means I stuck "Vodka" here.

Prefer for drinking or as a solvent? Bad stuff.

I don't like alcohol all that much. But if I gotta, it's GIN all the way, baby! (After Kaluha and Baileys)

Of those listed, vodka. I definitely prefer Aquavit or similar, though. I prefer my gin and rum mixed, and my tequila straight. Vodka is more versatile, IMO. Whiskey, yuck. I've only ever encountered one single malt Scotch I could drink.

Tequila by far... The best drink there is.... Rum is a close second though

If I am going to drink, I'll have a rum and coke. It tastes less bad than any of the others. Then again, it seems that everyone who makes me one fills it with rum, and adds a little coke for color.

If we're talking off the rack at a bar, crummy vodka beats the others. But the high end goes much higher on whisky, so for the best stuff whisky, followed by tequila, rum, and gin.

Oh, come on! The last time I intentionally consumed hard alcohol was >5 years ago; I honestly can't answer this question.

Single malt scotch. Current all-around fave is Dalwhinnie, though Highland Park is also quite wonderful.

Depends entirely on my mood, but never Vodka. Whiskey or tequila are best straight, though of course a good martini is pretty close to straight gin (and very nice when made with really good gin); rum mixes best with a variety of things.

I'm a whiskey person.
