| milktree | posted 24-Apr-1998 5:22pm It has to be good beer. I don't like pale ales or bitters, but a good porter or stout is great. |
| Timmi | posted 24-Apr-1998 6:00pm Beer is such a broad term. I'm not fond of most lagers or bitters, but nothing beats a good porter or an amber ale. |
| romkey | posted 24-Apr-1998 8:26pm it obviously depends a lot on the beer. I like Guiness. |
| Crimson | posted 24-Apr-1998 9:02pm Not unpleasant, but nothing special. |
| hunter | posted 25-Apr-1998 4:47am And it depends a lot on the beer in question. I don't like dark beers (porters and stouts) very often. I'm very fond of lambics. My fallback is usually Bass, these days. |
| jcdino | posted 25-Apr-1998 6:21am Nasty stuff... I make my boyfriend brush his teeth if he drinks any too. |
| copprtop | posted 26-Apr-1998 5:28am Beer is one of those things that I try every so often to see if I like it better, but I never do. Every once in a while there's a beer I can stand a few gulps of, but I can rarely finish even half a beer like th |
| Lorax | posted 26-Apr-1998 12:17pm No, and I refuse to believe that anyone else does either. :) |
| elijahblue | posted 26-Apr-1998 7:35pm Those I have tasted vary a great deal, from awful to mildly pleasant. I never order a beer, there are too many other better drinks. ***Dolemite: what was it you used to say about people who type in all caps? |
| fiore | posted 26-Apr-1998 9:46pm Good quality beer I can drink maybe 2-3 beers, but that's it. Afterwards, I don't like the taste anymore. I enjoy beer better with certain foods, as well. I enjoy wine better. |
| Jaime | posted 27-Apr-1998 7:10am Hmmm... of course! Specially Dutch one... |
| Mark | posted 27-Apr-1998 11:27am Never developed a taste for beer, and doubt I'm missing much. When I do consume alcohol, it is usually either a reasonably nice wine (white & sweet preferred), or a mixed drink such as a b52 shot. I'll also drink the occasional marguerita. |
| doom | posted 27-Apr-1998 3:21pm I like malty beers as opposed to those with a more hops flavor. |
| Twanger | posted 27-Apr-1998 6:14pm Elijablue: I seem to remember him mentioning something about that too |
| steve | posted 27-Apr-1998 6:47pm Depends on the beer. Also, I loathe the taste of alcohol; but I like the breadiness of the taste of beer. Few things are more vile than Budweiser. |
| Dolemite | posted 28-Apr-1998 1:35am Yes, and almost always. It would have to be a really strange brew for me to not like it. I do think that it is an acquired taste, like many things are, but... Crimson, JCDino, EB, Copprtop, and Lorax: You will all die for this outrage!! EB: I changed my letters for your benefit. However, I'm guessing that there is no need to point out the obvious (in that you simply were trying to be facetious), but I wasn't typing in all caps. Someone once told me something: caps equates to yelling, or something like that. My gripe was that some people were yelling inappropriately. |
| Atzilut | posted 28-Apr-1998 8:54pm Bass, Guinness, Tennents Lager -- sometimes the mid-range brews you get at brew pubs (mid range as against micro, they're not quit microbrews. .). None of these Kiwi-strawberry-malt-liquor with a double twists for moi |
| daedalus | posted 29-Apr-1998 8:25am I prefer the darker beers (Guinness), and weird beers (Hefeweizen, Sammi Chlaus - 12.5%!). Hmmm...okay... I guess it would be more accurate to say that I am a snob and dislike most mass produced American beers. |
| rleary | posted 29-Apr-1998 9:54am But, then again, I don't drink. |
| lizzie | posted 29-Apr-1998 9:58am Beer is just so gross. And, from the number of people who have told me "Well, you don't taste it after the first 3," I have to assume that many people agree. |
| profesor | posted 29-Apr-1998 11:23am It's definitely an acquired taste. After years of just occasionally drinking beer & not liking it, I realized that I did like it after all. |
| jzp | posted 29-Apr-1998 12:44pm "beer" is a lot of different things |
| truss | posted 29-Apr-1998 1:56pm No. (Ok, ok, I've had one or two that were ok, but not enough to justify a "yes, but not always" answer.) |
| mtmurphy | posted 29-Apr-1998 3:59pm Of course, this only counts for good beer. Bad beer is still bad beer. |
| lisashea | posted 29-Apr-1998 4:16pm It was too bitter at first. The same as wine, I trained myself to drink it because everyone else did. Now I actually like it. I still like Amaretto Sours better tho. |
| fiji | posted 30-Apr-1998 10:00am Mmmm... beer |
| djo23 | posted 1-May-1998 6:36am Beer is always great for 1 pint and is undrinkable by the eighth. Mind you in the immortal words of Monty Python: "we find your American beer a little like making love in a canoe, - fudging close to water" |
| ear | posted 1-May-1998 8:30am Yuck. Rotting grain. Why would anyone drink that? |
| Dahlia | posted 1-May-1998 8:51am I might drink it on a really hot day... but in general I don't because I am really not fond of the taste. |
| seanhuxter | posted 1-May-1998 10:44am Smithwicks Ale is good, and Corona (with a nice slice of lime) but regular beer sucks. People drink it to get drunk, and that's it. |
| joe | posted 1-May-1998 5:41pm i dont drink |
| lelle | posted 3-May-1998 8:55pm Quality beer, yes. Most stuff, no. |
| plots | posted 6-May-1998 6:42pm Not really dark beers like... Guinness |
| jjg | posted 13-May-1998 5:40pm Yes, but not always. I only like good hearty beers. I don't like pilsners, or the stuff the major American breweries try to pass off. |
| reality | posted 15-May-1998 4:39pm I generally dislike anything with alcohol. When I drink it is usually to get drunk. and beer tastes okay after the first 6 or so. |
| FateIsRandom | posted 12-Jun-1998 3:32pm I don't drink, but have tasted it, thought it tasted like pi$$. I do like however black beer (it's almost totally non-alcoholic), ginger beer and root beer. |
| rustyneff | posted 18-Jun-1998 5:29pm Ahhhhhh....nectar of the gods! A hot day and a cold beer are the perfect combination. |
| seven | posted 17-Aug-1998 10:20am I want to say Yes, Always, but then I realize that Bud & its evil cousins are really considered beer, and not piss. |
| eris | posted 18-Nov-1998 9:31pm I like the taste of good beer. This does not include the insipid substances sold in the mass market under that name. |
| bigkim65 | posted 8-Jan-1999 2:49am If I can get past the first two without gagging I've got it made. |
| Wicksy | posted 20-Jan-1999 11:14am beer : is that lager or beer. You see, in england beer can mean both, |
| hunter | posted 20-Jan-1999 12:04pm in the US it also means both, as opposed to wine, liquor, soda, juice...beers taste different, but they do all have a tendency to taste of hops and malt |
| North79 | posted 19-Feb-1999 9:22pm I am trying to learn to, I just can't seem to! |
| Jane | posted 1-Mar-1999 7:52pm I've never tried it. I'm under-age and it smells gross. |
| Guthrie | posted 16-Mar-1999 10:17am I assume we are talking nice nutty bitter as in English warm beer? Fizzy American lagers really have hardly any taste at all. |
| mandy | posted 13-Apr-1999 7:08pm YES!!!! |
