| SueBee | posted 27-Feb-2000 1:03am On really hot days I might swim, but usually I just go for walks. I enjoy looking in the tidepools for all sorts of little creatures. Oh, I like to build sand castles, too! |
| mandy | posted 27-Feb-2000 3:25am Hide from the sun under fifteen applications of SPF 30 sunscreen, a huge umbrella and long sleeves!!!! |
| bill | posted 27-Feb-2000 8:41am I get a sun burn. I get sand kicked in my face by the local large-muscled bully. I stare at women in bikinis until they give me disparaging looks. I walk out on the "jheti" (I have no idea how to spell that, it's the man-made rock thing that goes out into the ocean from the beach 100's of feet). |
| Enheduanna | posted 27-Feb-2000 11:00am bill: jetty I'd walk, sit (but not sunbathe), build a sandcastle. I would not wear a swimsuit. Not a normal women's one, anyway. I might eat, trying not to get sand in my sandwich. |

| Jane | posted 27-Feb-2000 12:18pm Swim, sunbathe, read, play volleyball or frisbee, build a sandcastle, and walk along the water with my friends trying to catch the eye of some cute guys. I wish it was summer. |

| jonathan | posted 28-Feb-2000 10:12am Look for sea glass & other treasures, climb rocks (I grew up on the coast of Maine where there are more rocks than beaches), play in tidal pools, build sand castles, bury friends in the sand, wade, swim, sunbathe, etc. I tend to avoid beaches that have a ton of people and go for the mostly empty ones. |
| Oscar | posted 28-Feb-2000 10:35am I body surf, swim, sun bathe, walk along the beach, search for shells, etc. |

| mary | posted 28-Feb-2000 7:34pm I would probably do most of it in one day, but if it were today, I would probably sunbathe, I need to. |
| gilly | posted 28-Feb-2000 10:46pm Depends on the beach. Mostly on the East coast I lie on the sand and read, walk along the beach, and maybe play in the waves if it ever gets warm enough. In Hawaii and Eilat I go snorkeling. |
| SueBee | posted 29-Feb-2000 12:03am cpierson - Do you do that thing where you (brrr) flip the kayak all the way around so you're under the water? I tried body surfing in Acapulco. I just ended up with a swimsuit full of sand because I didn't know what I was doing! |
| jaff | posted 29-Feb-2000 1:14am i've never been to the beach, but i imagine it would be a great lot of irritation and a huge put-out of more productively spent energy |
| drdt | posted 2-Mar-2000 7:37am Ever since I took a class on how to make sand castles, I have something do to at the beach (and therefore a reason to go). Actually, a beach is a pretty good place to fly a kite, too. |
| Avocado | posted 12-Mar-2000 12:29pm I do beadwork I read I take photos of my beautiful friend as the sun goes down I take photos of seagulls and other birds against the bright sun |
| Avocado | posted 12-Mar-2000 12:31pm jaff - But looking at a large body of water can be soothing to the soul. Some people find it so, at least. Especially with the waves and salt air. drdt - A sand castle class? That sounds intriguing. What techniques did you learn? :) |
| mandy | posted 12-Mar-2000 2:28pm jaffy and Avo I have a friend who hates the ocean....finds the sound of the waves an irritation....in competition with all the noises in his head... I never quite understood this...to me it's so soothing...I feel the sound lapping at me and washing over me and rinsing away all the noise in my brain. |
| Jane | posted 12-Mar-2000 10:12pm mandy- me too. The sound of the waves is so comforting to me, because I had an aunt who lived by the ocean. I used to visit her and fall asleep to the sound of the waves when I was little. That sound always make me think of her... |

| Ditz | posted 26-Mar-2000 11:02am I was just at the beach this week. I stood in shorts and a winter coat bare foot letting the water run up over my feet. It was bone chilling cold. But i was happy to be there. |

| Gamera | posted 2-Apr-2000 4:01pm The last time I had sex on a beach the sand was nothing, but the biting flies (black-heads?) were horrible-- I had huge welts all over my thighs. |
| Zang | posted 30-Apr-2000 5:19am I like to go to the beach at night, in the winter. My preferred beach activity is drinking beer. I don't like the sun. |
| Beachy | posted 27-May-2000 5:57am I love exploring sand-dunes, and long beach pathways. I'll walk for miles at the top of the beach among the dunes and paths in just my bathing suit; then realise I've no idea how to get back, no idea where my folks are, I've got no money and I'm desperate for the loo. Brilliant adventure, but scary- and there never seems to be an unembarrassing outcome! |

I rollerskate along the boardwalk.
I scope out the sunbathers.
