I've won a few things. Small things. I won a Jackson's Victory tour Jacket in 1984.

I won a nice restaurant gift certificate recently. Another time I was the right caller to try a contest where I had a few seconds to guess the mileage between 2 cities with the DJ telling me my guess was too high or too low. For that I won a t-shirt and a chance to win a new VW Beetle.

Pandora - You inspired this survey. You'll have to tell us all about your trip! *smile*

I used to listen to a local community radio station and I won lots of prizes, because there wasn't many other people trying. CDs, movie tickets, tickets to shows.... it was pretty cool.

giving oneself leftovers from no-one calling in to your show doesn't count then, eh?

jzp - No, I don't think that would actually count as winning a prize. But you can tell us about it anyway, if you want to. *smile* Was it good stuff, or crappy stuff?

I used to do this a lot. Once I had been on hold for 15 minutes with ticketmaster trying to buy tickets to a country music band, when the station offered their giveway. I hung up on ticketmaster, called the radio station and won the tickets! Phi even went with me to the show- what a trooper! I recently won a Rage Against the Machine CD from FNX, and they also sent a CD of "Music from the WWF"- it was the worst music I'd EVER heard! I almost regret lion and my breaking it in two, but we couldn't help ourselves at the time. I also won tickets to Pearl Jam on a night that I knew I couldn't go and gave them to phi and romkey, I think.

awww.... jzp, that sounds so sad. *frown* I guess now I know how I used to end up in two hour long telephone conversations with radio dj's in the middle of the night when I was in high school. Now that I think of it, the first concert I ever went to was one that i one tickets to when I was 16 or 17. Has anyone else ever heard of a rock band called "Crack the Sky" from about 84 or 85?

topper - Did you actually win tickets to the concert you were calling TicketMaster to order, or were they tickets to a different concert?

Twice! First time was: be the first caller with the right answer. I don't remember the question, but the answer was "Popcorn, by Hot Butter". I won a Russ Ballard album.
Next time was you sent in a card and if they called your name you got a certain amount of time to call in. I won $100.

I wanted tickets to a concert so badly, and you had to be the 100th caller to win. I called and called, but I only got through as caller 34 once out of the trillion times that I called. I always got busy signals. So sad!
