I am terrified of poisonous snakes and spiders, but luckily I don't have to worry about that much here in Western Washington.

I used to be terrified of losing a loved one, and thought sure I would totally fall apart, but as unpleasant as it would be I feel that I could get through it.

This is kind of like that Phobia survey. Burning, Drowning, Suffocating, Falling, Large spiders touching me, and my parents dying.

I pictured a large spider running up and touching you, then running away giggling. * smile *

I guess I could have worded that better.. It's just that if I was looking at it on the ground it wouldn't bother me... If I looked down and it was on my arm.. I'd have a heart attack.

I used to be terrified of fire. Being trapped in a burning building. I don't have many fears these days. Losing a loved one, I've done. Lost both my grandparents (who raised me) within a span of a year or so in the late 80s.

I've been through two life-threatening car wrecks where no one was permanently hurt (Yay seatbelts! - SERIOUSLY!) So I'm not even afraid of car accidents now.

But now that I have a kid, the though of losing her is the worst thing I can think of. No thanks.

I'm not terrified of anything. Terrified, to me, implies that it consumes my life and is totally beyond my control. I'm what I would consider unreasonably frightened of losing loved ones, of thunderstorms, and of driving in icy/snowy conditions.

Heights. I can't handle them at all. I have trouble getting on a chair to change a light bulb, that's how much of a wimp I am.

Oh! And the telephone. I avoid using it whenever I can. I rarely answer it if it rings, and I will almost never call anyone I don't know personally. It really gets in the way sometimes.

I am very afraid of fires. Not one in a controlled place, but in a forest or my house or something like that. I have been ever since I saw 'Firestarter' when I was around 4 years old.

bill: I was too. You know what helps? In case you have a lecture, remember that you always know more than the people you´re talking to. One of the biggest fears of most people is that they´re outsmarted, but think about it. When you go to a lecture, don´t you think that the guy/girl who´s telling the story probably knows best? Well, when you´re having a lecture, that´s exactely how people look at you!
I once have given a girl in my class a complete bullcrap answer, and she swallowed it because she thought I was the expert!

I don't think I'm "terrified" of too much, but I am quite frightened by the circus, heights, windows, and people.

vos - when I speak publicly, it's usually to a bunch of engineers. Usually, a lot of them do know more than me in one way or another and usually they are all waiting to ask me hard questions that I rarely know the answers to. ...though, that doesn't bug me so much.
It's more when someone makes fun of me that I'm afraid of.

Swimming in deep bodies of water can terrify me if I let it, I become afraid of what I can't see behind/under/above me.

I am so terrified of public speaking.. It's the reason why I haven't started college yet.. because I know there is a speaking class that is required.

I used to be afraid of public speaking, but I've learned to really enjoy it, as long as I feel sufficiently prepared. It's a great feeling to be able to make a connection with an audience.

Not exactly terrified, I guess, but I'm really worried about losing someone I love, especially lately. A very good friend of mine lost his father the day this survey was made * frown *

Okay, after what happened a few days ago I have to change my answer. I thought my SO was just a minute or so behind me on the way to work, and after several minutes I started to get really worried and wondered what was taking her so long. I guess I really was terrified by the thought that she may have been in an accident. What a horrible feeling. I was sure glad when she finally got there after my 5 minutes of torture!

There are a lot of things that scare me, but I don't know it until I face them. I learned last summer that I am pretty terrified of having a major incurable medical problem. (I was very grateful to learn that I didn't). I am also terrified of that happening to loved ones.

Yes, I'm terrified of getting cancer. No one in my immediate family has even had so much as a minor skin cancer so my fear is probably very irrational but I can't help it.
