| Galomorro | posted 18-Feb-2013 10:20pm 6 to 7 a.m. I naturally awake when it gets light out, all days. |
| LJD | posted 19-Feb-2013 2:19am 7:00 - to 7:59. The old saying, "early to bed, early to rise, makes you healthier, wealthier, and wise." The body is meant to sleep at night. Unfortunately, I don't do it all the time. |
| parrot_person | posted 19-Feb-2013 4:59am Almost always after 10 AM. If I'm up earlier, it's because I have an appointment (doctor's office, car servicing) that I couldn't get any other time. |
| Lysannus | posted 19-Feb-2013 5:46am 2:30am most every weekday. Weekends I may luxuriate is sleeping into 5am, but usually up by 4:30am. Yes I know I am sick sick sick |
| Dino | posted 19-Feb-2013 8:05am First alarm clock: 6:50am Second alarm clock: 6:59am Its generally the second clock that prompts me to get up. |
| TeddyMiller | posted 19-Feb-2013 9:46am I have my alarm set for 6:00 AM |
| Enheduanna | posted 19-Feb-2013 11:01am Between 7:00 and 7:15. My SO's alarm usually starts going off around 6:45, and I'm often half awake already by then, but I don't fully wake up or get up until a little after 7:00. My alarm goes off at 7:15, though I have often turned it off by then. |
| cerealkiller | posted 19-Feb-2013 2:15pm Cell phone alarm is set to 5:58 am, but I usually use snooze for another 10-20 minutes. It doesn't really matter much when I get to work. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 19-Feb-2013 3:41pm Most mornings I begin to wake up at 6:30 in the mornings |
| Iseult | posted 19-Feb-2013 4:46pm 7am. I just started a new job though. I used to have to wake up at 6am. |
| Biggles | posted 19-Feb-2013 4:59pm 7am if I need to be at work for 8am, 7:30am if I need to be at work for 9am. My commute is reasonably short this year |
| Biggles | (reply to Iseult) posted 19-Feb-2013 5:00pm What are you doing in your new job? |
| LindaH | posted 19-Feb-2013 5:16pm 4:45 AM |
| Iseult | (reply to Biggles) posted 19-Feb-2013 9:41pm Similar to my old job. I don't know how much you know about being an underwriter, but until recently I was a Junior Engineering Underwriter. Now I am an Intermediate Property & Casualty Underwriter (it goes Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Specialist). It's a step up and, in my humble opinion, the right decision. |
| Biggles | (reply to Iseult) posted 20-Feb-2013 2:48pm I know pretty much nothing about being an underwriter. Educate me! Intermediate definitely sounds better than junior, though your full title is a bit of a mouthful. |
| Iseult | (reply to Biggles) posted 20-Feb-2013 5:21pm There's a simple explanation that I give to people, which is that I decide how much your insurance premium is going to be. A fancy explanation is that I act as an investor for the insurance company's capital. I look at coverages people want and decide whether or not to accept them, and then I set terms and premium for the policy. There's a lot of simple math involved in the process of arriving to the premium. Now, this is done for commercial policies. Any sort of personal policy, like auto or home, is done by computers because there are plenty of samples and the trends are easily predictable. I used to insurance boiler and machinery insurance (aka Engineering), but it's a small and specialized market, and I feel that there isn't far to go in. I chose to transfer into Property and Casualty because it's very general and there are plenty of opportunities. I want to gain some more general skills before specializing. |
| they | posted 20-Feb-2013 8:17pm About 7:30. That's just enough time to drag my ass into the next room to have a smoke, make coffee, and wake up a bit before I start working at 8. |
| RainingFeathers | posted 21-Feb-2013 6:58pm I get up at 5:30. This is extremely early in my opinion, but at my new job my hours change weekly (not by much, thankfully). For my earliest shift I have to be up by 5:30, so I'm trying to get up at that time consistently. I used to always sleep midnight to 8 am, so this is a big change! |
| cloudhugger | posted 24-Feb-2013 4:14pm Anywhere between 4:30 and 9. |
| Zang | posted 26-Feb-2013 9:41am 'round about six, more often than not... |
| msgman | posted 1-Mar-2013 4:29pm The alarm goes off at 6.30am. I'm usually awake a bit before that, but sometimes it catches me unawares |
| msgman | (reply to LJD) posted 1-Mar-2013 4:31pm I'd wouldn't call 7:00 - to 7:59 "early". That's what I'd call a lie-in! |
| msgman | (reply to Iseult) posted 1-Mar-2013 4:34pm At least you're not an actuary. As the saying goes, an actuary is someone who tried their hand at accountancy, but wanted something a bit less frenetic. |
| Iseult | (reply to msgman) posted 1-Mar-2013 4:55pm That's really funny. |
| LJD | (reply to msgman) posted 2-Mar-2013 3:35am For retired peoples like my husband and I, 7:00 is early...LOL |
| Edenhallgirl | posted 5-Mar-2013 3:13am Wake up or get out of bed? |
| RainingFeathers | (reply to Edenhallgirl) posted 5-Mar-2013 7:26am You can interpret it however who like. I left it ambiguous on purpose. |
| Edenhallgirl | (reply to RainingFeathers) posted 5-Mar-2013 2:43pm As so often happens, my comment was too brief. I wasn't really asking a question; I was trying to make a joke. My alarm clock wakes me up at the same time everyday. My problem is getting out of bed. I am so not a morning person. |
| RainingFeathers | (reply to Edenhallgirl) posted 5-Mar-2013 11:02pm Ah, got it. I can't always recognize jokes in writing, so thanks for clarifying. |
