| romkey | posted 4-Jan-2000 10:27am I stopped because I had the perfect trip. |
| ILJ | posted 4-Jan-2000 10:35am I haven't done it in years and I wouldn't do it again. I had almost entirely good experiences with it, but you really need a good 48 hours with nothing else to do and I rarely have that kind of time to blow these days. |
| lara | posted 4-Jan-2000 10:43am i used to go to work tripping sometimes. |
| quark | posted 4-Jan-2000 10:53am I called in stupid for work one day. A friend's enthusiasm was contagious one Sunday and come Monday I was still in the Magic Kingdom. (; copy ILJ's comment here since it applies and I'm lazy ;) |
| Oscar | posted 4-Jan-2000 11:52am no and I don't plan on starting |
| anonymous | posted 4-Jan-2000 4:55pm Oscar: you have absolutely no idea what you are missing |
| Oscar | posted 4-Jan-2000 5:00pm That may be, but I know I am NOT missing brain cells. |
| kristalynn | posted 4-Jan-2000 5:21pm I did it once..this new years eve and it was fun..i'll do it again.. |
| kristalynn | posted 4-Jan-2000 5:23pm yeah you are oscar..you can lose brain cells by walking... |
| they | posted 4-Jan-2000 5:29pm probably more than 11 times.. at least 10... all good trips.. loved it.. but decided to stop while I was ahead. |
| jzp | posted 4-Jan-2000 5:45pm Cross-section of answers. You did miss "i forgot how many times I had it". |
| eris | posted 4-Jan-2000 5:46pm I had been curious about it ever since I read a story in 5th grade or so that was obviously anti-drug propaganda but which I really found quite fascinating... And the moral of that is, don't lie to children. |
| drdt | posted 4-Jan-2000 6:00pm Oscar: are you certain you aren't missing brain cells? On what do you base this belief? |
| Jane | posted 4-Jan-2000 7:49pm No...I admit that I am a total goody two shoes. Drugs just don't really appeal to me. |
| mandy | posted 4-Jan-2000 8:22pm I would do it if it was available and wasn't illegal. I'd be afraid at this point in my life that if I did illegal drugs and got caught I'd lose my child. |
| anonymous | posted 4-Jan-2000 10:01pm I use dextromethorphan, poor man's acid. |
| anonymous | posted 4-Jan-2000 11:13pm Oscar: you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about |
| Very | posted 5-Jan-2000 12:16am No, but I would if I had the chance. |
| Oscar | posted 5-Jan-2000 11:10am I'm not missing any that I could have prevented the loss of. |
| daver | posted 5-Jan-2000 11:36am **Oscar: Why not? |
| Gamera | posted 5-Jan-2000 11:49am How about "I have forgotten how many times I've done it." |
| Gamera | posted 5-Jan-2000 11:55am anonymous - "poor man's acid?" I'm not familiar with the effects of dextromethorphan, but at between US$1-US$5 for up to 20 hours of trip it's hard to find a better value in bang per buck. (Mid 1980's to early 1990's prices for LSD in my region at the time, and my personal metabolism/processing times at the time. I recognize). |
| eris | posted 5-Jan-2000 6:32pm (topper) Dextromethorphan is the active ingredient in cough syrup (the cough suppressant). I've never had much fun from it. I would expect it to resemble morphine or heroin much more than it would acid... anyone tried all three |
| quark | posted 5-Jan-2000 6:55pm I haven't tried heroin, but cough syrup feels a bit like morphine without all the nasty itchy feeling that's kept me away from heavy opiates. It indeed doesn't remind me of acid at all... |
| Gamera | posted 5-Jan-2000 7:03pm Isn't cough syrup more expensive than acid? |
| Oscar | posted 6-Jan-2000 1:39pm I've heard that argument before, daver. I have to admit...very interesting... |
| anonymous | posted 7-Jan-2000 8:13pm A friend in college once said to me that he had to stop doing acid because every time he took it the world got a little darker. |
| quark | posted 8-Jan-2000 3:29pm anon: I've known people who've had similar sensations. That's if I was parsing you correctly and "darker" is in reference to the feeling of the world. i.e. more sinister. I've always suspected that it was a self-propelling observation. You notice that things seem grimmer once. You wonder if it'll happen again and since you're thinking about it by golly happens. That'd be the set part of set & setting doing it's thing... |
| anonymous | posted 8-Jan-2000 3:47pm I'm not sure what he meant by "darker", but I suspect that your inferrence is correct. Also, this hasn't been my experience with LSD. I find that taking LSD on a warm summer day in a big grassy field makes the world "brighter". I come away with deep feelings of connection to the Earth and Nature. It's a great way to rejuvenate. ...I just thought his quote was an interesting one to note. |
| anonymous | posted 8-Jan-2000 4:16pm This survey is making me want some acid. |
| petite1 | posted 29-Jan-2000 1:17am I did quite a few times in high school. My friends and I used to get together and go to the laser light show. It was a blast. I haven't tripped on acid in a while but we still get together in the summer and eat some shrooms which are alot more mellow. |
| SueBee | posted 17-Feb-2000 1:28am It's always scared the hell out of me, so I've never wanted to try it. Must have been some propaganda-filled health class in junior high! |
| mary | posted 7-Mar-2000 10:47pm Yes |
| mary | posted 7-Mar-2000 10:49pm I stopped because I had a BAD trip FUDGING BAD TRIP |
| Eeah | posted 17-Mar-2000 3:57am Yes. I dropped at least 3-4 times a week for a whole summer. I've done it a couple times since, and a few times before. I think i'm done with acid though. The last thing I touched were cubes and they were bad :( |
| Eeah | posted 17-Mar-2000 3:58am MARY! I understand! |
| Cheezer | posted 27-Apr-2000 10:51am I have done it 3 or 4 times. Those will be the only times. Just not worth the risks. |
| Zang | posted 26-May-2000 7:09pm Probably a couple of hundred times. When I was about 17-27 my preferred altered state of consciousness involved the combined effects of alcohol and LSD. My behavior has improved considerably since then however. |
