Sadly, this is part and parcel of being a musician.

I'm not sure if it is possible for me to get on anyone's nerves.

Not at all. We are good neighbors and often help each other.

Only once when a party got a little bit out of hand. But they didn't call the police on me.

One day after we'd moved in our neighbor came to the door to ask us to remove some of the boxes from moving in. I had a fever, green hair, my nose-ring, and lots of attitude from feeling wretched. All I clearly remember was that she used the words "This is a nice neighborhood..." Neither of us ended up with a good impression of each other.

When we moved in, Mary Kelly next door hopefully asked if we would be cutting down the oak tree in our back yard (which rains acorns all over her yard). We hopefully asked if she'd be amenable to taking down the fence between our properties (which I think is ugly). Neither has come down, and Mary doesn't wave back to me any more, but I'm more prone to blame this on her disapproval of my lifestyle rather than on some thing I've done to annoy her.

In _my_ opinion our neighbors should consider us angelic for not having pressed charges against them after they broke into our house. But I don't actually know how they feel.

When I was living with my mother, a neighbor once called the police because my mother hadn't mowed the lawn in too long.

I have lived in the same home for 36 years. Only two neighbors and I are the originals. A couple of my neighbors are like sisters to me. I have never had a problem with my neighbors or they with me. We all get along very well.

phi: I think Mary Kelly likes us all just fine, as does her mother. They really liked the garden last summer. And how would she know anything about your lifestyle, anyway? The neighbors on the other side like us--they brought us fish! And one of the neighbors across the street likes us.
As for my upstairs neighbors, I don't think I annoy them--do I? :)

You too drdt? My neighbors annoy me too. It's even worse because their kids look into my bedroom window with binoculars.

I probably get on my neighbors nerves but that's ok because they get on mine too so we're equal.

I arrived home today to my neighbor tromping out from around the side of my home with a step ladder. He had taken it upon himself to put a screen up over a hole in our eave to keep the swallows from nesting there in the spring. He was doing his side and decided he'd do us a favor and do ours too. I am so pissed. I realize he was only trying to be nice but Fudge! Stay the Fudge out of my yard when I'm not home. I think he felt silly that I caught him in the act, he was all sheepish and crap. He's hasn't been going to work every morning like usual for the last 5 weeks. I think he has a bunch of vacation time to use up and he's getting bored.
I'm not sure yet how best to handle this. My kid is upset because the swallows nest above her window every spring and now the hole is closed. UG!

I doubt it. I think I'm a pretty considerate neighbor.

Now that we've started shoveling her walk Mary (the mom; I forget the daughter's name) waves back again.

They've never mentioned it. I've only ever squealed down the road a few times, though.
