It weirds me out a little that my husband uses the same nickname to refer to me and to his girlfriend... but not critically.

topper - We intentionally avoid using any pet names Pete used with his first wife. Weirds both of us out too much, because pet names can be so personal. Different but similar situation....

I don't have an SO, but when I do, I tend to go with "baby," and "darling" or "dear" when I'm being sarcastic.
