If I had a car, it'd be Japanese. It's just that in consumer reports the recalls for domestics are like: "please return to dealer immediately, car could explode spontaneously upon ignition." While the recalls for Japanese vehicles are usually: "please return car to dealer, floor mat may become threadbare upon wiping feet."

I checked German, but it's not really true. I drive a Seat, a spanish car (the only one spanish car), but now it is practically a VW, bcos it mounts a high number of VW pieces. In fact, the only one spanish part of it is the bodywork. For the rest, even the screwdriver included is VW!! But, IMHO, this is a good thing: I've it for 2 years and have no one problem yet.

I drive a vauxhall nova which is german. It gets me from A to B. Interestingly, when they tried to sell it in Spanish-speaking countries, they realised that "no va" means "doesn't go".

I cannot begin to tell you how satisfied I am with my car. It's one of the better things in my life. (1991 Mazda Miata [MX-5 for you non-US/Canadians])

I love my Camry. My last car was a Tercel that was still running at age 14 when I left it on the East Coast. So I bought another and have every expectation I'll be driving it when I turn forty.

Dodge pickup. The only thing really bad is that it developed a leak that let the rain inside, the carpet mildewed, and I can't get the smell out.

My favourite general purpose car is a pre-1994 Saab 900 Turbo 3-door. I own two ('92 & '89). Don't much care for the later models, though, and am not sure what I will get when it comes time to replace one. I may try a Saturn next.

Proud member of the Saturn Cult (1998 Saturn SL2). *** Atzilut: 1985 Celebrities RULE! Err... well... ok, they don't rule at all, but I have very fond memories of the one I owned in '93-'94 (my first car), anyway. :)

I have a Saturn. It's pretty cool, but it's starting to get older now, and I'm having to put more money into it than I planned. We'll see how I feel about it in another year.

I am very satisfied with the way it performed when I crashed it. It crumpled perfectly.
and the seatbelts sucked us tight and kept us from being smashed against the dash and windshield.
I think if we had been driving anything less sturdy we would have been seriously injured or maybe even killed.

Hmmm, this survey pops up just when I find myself with another car. This one's little, red, cute, Swedish, and older than I am. Can I interest any SC denizens in a tiger-striped Montero, an ancient Scout II, or a sidecar?
**Wicksy: I don't think matchbox cars count.
