Same as mandy's. The ones on our breasts are the same (or at least similar), the ones on our shoulders are different. One of these days we'll get some pictures of them online. |

the breasts or the tattoos suebee? *snicker* |

If I -did- get a tattoo, I would get one of two: Either a heart on my arm with "Mother" on it, or the word "JUDEN" in an old German font face. |

Free and clear. |

No tattoos. I want one on my lower back, right above my butt, though. |
SueBee |
They look great there, Mariah, but wouldn't it drive you crazy not to be able to see it yourself very well? |
| Pomeranian |
I have one on my arm and one on my ankle...I would really like more. |
| Mariah | | posted 7-Dec-1999 11:21pm |
SueBee: Maybe, but I think that it would be a good place when you consider the clothing factor. It might actually work out better for me if I didn't HAVE to see it all the time. I think I'm going to get Daniel to draw me a butterfly and get it tattooed back there. |
| pandora | | posted 8-Dec-1999 10:17am |
I'd really like to get one on the back of my neck. I'm afraid it would be really painful though. |
| mandy | | posted 8-Dec-1999 12:57pm |
I just drew a tattoo design for my brother for Christmas. I also have a series of flash sheets that I am working on(mostly tribal designs and some gothic twists on regular flash designs like hearts and vines). I haven't decided if I want to actually market the sheets when I'm finished or just post them on a website and let folks have them. I love the idea of people liking my designs so much that they would wear them, so it isn't really about profit. Mostly it's about part of me living as art on other peoples skin. I love websites where artists share their stuff and encourage you to use it,share it, wallow in it, as long as you credit them. I understand that some people make a living from their art and that's fabulous, I'm just not sure if I want to make money from my art or offer it as gift since it comes to me totally without effort and I enjoy the process of creating something beautiful so much, that seems like payment in itself.

Twist: That is such a cool attitude!!! Good luck with your art. My boyfriend is an artist and I really admire people with that talent, since I don't have much. |

pandora - Ouch! You may be right. But I'm sure it would be worth it. I didn't find my tattoos to be all that painful, except for a couple spots (close to the nipple was rather tender, and the top of my shoulder). It seems the more padding an area has, the less it hurts. |
| gilly |
My tattoos are still in my mind. I may get them out eventually, but I kinda doubt it. |
Maarten |
No tattoos. |

I'd love to see some of your designs sometime, mandy. SueBee, I worried so much ahead of time about the pain of getting tattooed and pierced before, that once I got there, it was not nearly as bad as I imagined, so I guess I'll just have to go that route again. But I don't know what's worse, months of imaginary torture, or minutes (maybe an hour) of real pain. bleh. |
| magbast | | posted 15-Dec-1999 6:10pm |
tattoos really don't hurt as bad as people think...it goes away after about 5 minutes...nothing more than a burning sensation...not bad at all...to me, afterwards hurts more...because it's raw from the artist wiping away excess paint and blood every 2 seconds...hehehe |
| mandy | | posted 15-Dec-1999 9:18pm |
Pandora, I am going to post them on my website. I have two pages of flash ready. I also now have a scanner. I'll let you know when they're up! :) |
| anonymous | | posted 16-Dec-1999 10:07pm |
But if I did, I would get one on the outside of my right ankle, and a sun around my belly button |
SueBee | | posted 19-Dec-1999 7:57pm |
I sat for 5 hours getting one of my shoulder tattoos, and after that healed, went back for 3 more hours of work on the same one. After a while, the whole area is raw from the wiping (as magbast said). I think that's actually the worst part. While it is a bit painful, I don't think it's all that bad, and I want another one! |
| Maggie | | posted 24-Dec-1999 9:58am |
I have none. I don't ever want one either. I don't like them at all. What if a year from now you change your mind about it? You are stuck with it or forced to pay alot to get it removed. |
| pandora | | posted 24-Dec-1999 1:54pm |
That's why such decisions are made carefully? What if a year from now you change your mind about your husband? You're stuck with him or forced to pay a lot to get him 'removed'. |

Pandy! They're not even married yet. |

I was not condemning anyone for having tattoos. I like them on other people. I just don't want one.
I am married to him Twist. Get your facts right or shut up. |

Excuse my mistake. I was confused by your earlier statements. I get it now. And just for the record....It will be a cold day in Survey Central before I shut up. If you don't like my opinions and comments, feel free to filter me. |

SueBee, mandy: so when are those tattoo pictures coming? |

Well, we really have no excuse now. We have a working camera...and a scanner...time to bare our skin, I'd say! |

I had a dream the other night that I was visiting mandy and SueBee, and they lived in this apartment building and the front yard was this beach, and a huge lake. I saw their daughter's room and pet the cat, and then I hit SueBee on the head w/ a bouquet of irises. |

SueBee |
Hey! I like irises, but why'd you have to go and hit me on the head with them?! |
| pandora | | posted 2-Feb-2000 11:20am |
It was an accident. I felt really bad afterwards. Sorry! |

By the way, does anyone have any favourite tattoo books or magazines they'd recommend? |

I finally figured out last night what I want to get a tattoo of--the cuneiform sign for "woman," on my right shoulderblade. I've been wanting to get one for years but nothing ever grabbed me before. Now I have to figure out where to go get it done... |
SueBee | | posted 5-Feb-2000 10:54pm |
Enheduanna - Do you have any examples of what that looks like? I did a quick web search and didn't come up with anything. Sounds like it would be really cool, though. |
Enheduanna | | posted 5-Feb-2000 11:29pm |
SueBee: Go here: http://enlil.lib.uchicago.edu/cgi-bin/eos/eos_page.pl?DPI=100&callnum=PJ3835.B85_cop2&object=68and go down to line 11 of the cuneiform text. The second sign in from the left is the one. I'd probably make it a bit more stylized. It started out originally as a triangle with a little line coming in to the center from one of the corners--like a woman's genitals. The form on this page is a couple of thousand years' development from that, though, so it's changed a bit. |
SueBee | | posted 6-Feb-2000 12:58am |
That is cool looking! What a great idea for something unique that will have a meaning that you can explain to people who ask. And it would be really neat when people actually recognize it and comment. I take it this is something you studied in college? |
Enheduanna | | posted 6-Feb-2000 10:24am |
It's something I'm still studying. I'm working on my doctorate in Bible and Ancient Near East--so basically ancient Mesopotamia and ancient Israel. Which is where I come by all the spoutings-off about the Bible. Currently I am working on my comprehensive exams--I have taken the one in Northwest Semitic (= Syro-Palestinian, basically) languages, and am now working on Akkadian, which is the language all that cuneiform is used to write.

It's all Greek to me. Sounds like a fascinating subject with a lot to learn about. |

A lizard (looks like road kill) on the inside of my left ankle. I am going to get some work done on it this summer. The guy who did it was all messed up on cocaine and stoned and had taken who knows what kind of pills. I didn't know this until after the fact. I didn't care, I knew I could just go get it re done and all of the supplied were all clean, it was done in a shop, but he wasn't liscensed, he just owned the place. |
| cableknit | | posted 11-Apr-2000 11:36pm |
I have always wanted to get a tattoo on my left wrist. The problem is that I wear a watch and bracelet on that wrist, and they wouldn't work well together. Right wrist is out. I am right-handed, and I wouldn't want the pain in my right hand. |
Enheduanna | | posted 12-Apr-2000 9:34am |
You could wear the watch and bracelet on the right. |
| cableknit | | posted 12-Apr-2000 11:05pm |
To Enheduanna. The problem is that I really like wearing my watch and bracelet on my left wrist. Same reason that I like the idea of a tattoo on that wrist. You said it in the handcuff survey: It just feels right that way. |

I would've thought more painful than ticklish that close to the bone. Ouch! Have you and Twist got those tattoo pics up yet? |
SueBee |
I figured it'd tickle before the needle even touched the skin. If anyone LOOKS at my toes with the intention of touching them, I start to giggle.
No pics yet, but we have new motivation since mandy got a fabulous new hairdo yesterday. |

Eeek! Not my toes!
I'm a little slow responding...I think she's mentioned elsewhere by now that it's short and blonde. Very cute!! |
Enheduanna | | (reply to SueBee) posted 11-Jul-2000 5:59pm |
I'm even slower responding these days because my computer freaked out and I haven't gotten hooked back up to the network yet. I have 320 new completed surveys to look at, and I don't even want to know how many new surveys! |
SueBee |
Oh no! I hate it when that happens! I hope you have things all fixed up again. Have fun catching up! |
