| Enheduanna | posted 14-Nov-2009 11:17am I don't have a favorite. I like Home Depot, Lowe's, and OSH about the same. I like Ace Hardware stores, too, but they usually have a lot of housewares stuff that you can't get at the others. Menards I've never been to. |
| Galomorro | posted 14-Nov-2009 11:37am Never been to any. Don't own a home and these places are typically not in an area where I usually find myself -- they're in neighborhoods I rarely visit. But I'd go to one out of curiosity if I ever came upon one in my wanderings. |

Lowe's has more employees and is better organized, but I prefer the stuff/prices at Home Depot. My ex works in the Home Depot as a vendor, and is at my local store a few times a week. I no longer shop there because of that.... even though I prefer the store and it's a little closer to me than Lowe's. We don't have an Ace or Menards. |
| Iseult | posted 14-Nov-2009 11:45am Home Depo is only one that's familiar to me form the list, so I'll go with it. |
| RainingFeathers | posted 14-Nov-2009 11:52am Around here we have 2 chains, Home Depot and Rona. I prefer Rona, but Home Depot is fine too.
We don't have Lowes here, and I've never heard of the other 2. |
| bill | posted 14-Nov-2009 12:57pm Home Depot because it's the only one we got... we've got 2, 1 in each direction.
I've been to Lowes once in another state and it seemed to be exactly identical to Home Depot. |

| cerealkiller | posted 14-Nov-2009 3:59pm None. I dislike going into these stores. Too big unless you are making a large purchase or buying a lot of different things. 99% of the time I can find small stuff I need at Ace Hardware in town, 5 minutes away. The big box stores are 30 minutes away.
Actually, I wouldn't consider Ace Hardware a home improvement store. It's a hardware store mainly. And there aren't any Menards around here. I think that's a midwest thing. If I have to go to a large store it's Home Depot. I think I've been in Lowes once. |
| Richard47 | posted 14-Nov-2009 7:28pm Home Depot (though others usually end up improving my home, I just approve) |
| Biggles | posted 14-Nov-2009 7:36pm I can't remember the last time I went to a DIY shop, but I suppose B&Q is okay. |
| icurok | posted 15-Nov-2009 10:48am B&Q I suppose |

| llamamama | posted 18-Nov-2009 10:30pm People actually like these stores?!
My parents always trick me into goint to them. "Oh we're going to go eat." "Now we're going to go to Home Depot to buy some ridiculous thing just so we can go to Home Depot because you hate it so much." |
| autumnlight | posted 28-Nov-2009 8:16am Dont have any of those here. And dont shop at them enough to have a favourite. |
| ASB | posted 20-Dec-2009 6:55am home depot is the one i go to more often mostly because it is closest |
| paulyw | posted 20-Dec-2009 9:46am Menard's We had a Home Depot here but they went out of business |
