We shouldn't be allowed to chew gum because you can stick it to places and it can get pretty messy. But candy - why not?

I'm sure most kids can and it wouldn't bother anyone. But, then there are a few kids who do it obnoxiously and teachers or adminstrators get ticked off by it. So, they make a rule that no kids can do it. That sucks, but that's life too. There are many things in life like that.

If you had yes/no options, I'd be able to choose one of those.

It's a bad idea because this sort of thing is bad for you, what with all the sugar and preservatives in candy and probably gum too. Although there are some healthy gums out there. But it's also a bad idea because some people litter, i.e., throw candy and gum wrappers on the ground and floor, not to mention sticking gum under desks, tables, chairs, etc. in schools. You'd be unable to brush your teeth after all this sugar-eating, too, unless you're used to taking a toothbrush to school with you.

There is a ton of gum under the desks at my school, and people get it stuck to their knees. We're not really allowed to chew gum, but some teachers tolerate it. I really don't need to have candy in school, a mint or something, okay.

I'm assuming you don't mean during lessons? I can't see any reason for banning sweets in general, but chewing gum is nasty and gets everywhere.

Students who chew gum to relieve ear pressure or to help them focus better should be allowed to chew it in school.

No, it is distracting and kids would be eating it all day long, noisy wrappers and trash everywhere. (I am assuming that you mean eating it during your lessons)

Depends. Are you doing it in class, or inbetween buildings. Are you in middle school, high school, college.

It makes sense to give college kids more freedom than high schoolers. Also, eating too much candy is bad for you anyway. As long as you're under 18, they should have the right to restrict some of your freedoms (to a point).

Yes, but it should also be up to the classroom teacher.

Candy? Sure. Gum should be banned everywhere.
