| southernyankee | posted 7-Nov-2009 9:47am I think they're legitimate. I don't think its fair to judge FOX by what Beck does. By that standard, CNN wasn't a legitimate news organization for the duration of Beck's employment there. |
| Melf | posted 7-Nov-2009 10:26am No. Good survey |
| judgescratch | posted 7-Nov-2009 10:47am Yes. |
| Enheduanna | posted 7-Nov-2009 12:26pm I'm sure there's some occasional modicum of legitimate journalism on the Fox News Channel (as distinct from Fox's network broadcast news), but all the shows eponymously named for the pundits hosting them are absolutely not legitimate journalism. I think Olbermann and Maddow are just as bad, even though I agree with them. They're all reactionary and manipulative. Maybe that's a good litmus test: if the show just calls itself "The News (at whatever-o'clock)," then it's probably news. If it has someone's name as the first element, then it's not. |
| jettles | posted 7-Nov-2009 7:11pm not news, just opinions about the news! |
| Crayons | posted 7-Nov-2009 7:53pm I guess so. Even if it's propaganda, that still counts as news, right? Maybe not, I don't really have a strong opinion on this one. |
| cerealkiller | posted 7-Nov-2009 11:46pm Of course it is. They report news like anyone else. They also have shows that aren't "journalism" but more like personal opinion like Glenn Beck.
Why don't you have a survey like that for MSNBC, CNBC or CNN? All news is biased in one form or another. You just have to look at the facts and decide for yourself on opinionated broadcasts. |
| rustygirl50 | posted 8-Nov-2009 8:53am Yes. I watch it alot. Glenn, Bill, and Shaughn are telling it like it is and more. I'm conservative and a republican. Tea Partys are not bad. If people don't like what's going on or how things are being done, it's thier right to protest. My ssi check keeps being reduced since this last January. You think I'm happy? Hell No. I protest and protest. but they keep taking away.. |
| stever1958 | posted 8-Nov-2009 10:11am I prefer CNN because of it`s balanced journalism.Fox News is always trash talking Liberals and we must provide a government for all the people not just Conservatives but Moderates and Liberals as well.We may not like the lifestyle of some but they have a right to be governed. |
| LuridHope | posted 8-Nov-2009 10:54am ...Is this survey "legitimate"?
The left and right are nothing but vast social manipulation being perpetuated by all media in order to polarize the masses and blind us to the conspiracy of consumer programing and government control. Am I the only one who finds it less than coincidental that FOX, a supposed conservative think tank, is also responsible for the most amoral leftist programing on television? If you are getting your socio-political views from from shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons you are buying into FOX's views. |
| risingroad | posted 8-Nov-2009 11:20am It is more of a venting or brain-washing mechanism for the right-wing. Of course, some may think what I listen too is the same but left-winged. Either way, it isn't news if it is biased and FOX is definitely biased. It was like Jane Fonda seeing how the peasants in the Viet Nam War were being forced by the Cong to hide ammo and weapons or die. Then the Americans found the weapons and took it out on the peasants. She got on the radio and announced the tragedy being done to innocent people and nobody wanted to hear the truth... they wanted the "John Wayne" version that America is always right and Jane was shamed and black balled. I think she is a hero. Some still think she is a commie. |
| risingroad | (reply to risingroad) posted 8-Nov-2009 11:22am By the way... I haven't had television in over 22 years so just get glimpses and opinions from others on how FOX is so I am not a good judge of it. |
| Iseult | posted 8-Nov-2009 11:55am No.
And neither is CNN for that matter. |
| Gomezy3k | posted 8-Nov-2009 12:03pm Fox is just as legit if not more so than the other so called news sources. The other news networks are just political propaganda sources for Obama. They spend all their time in worshipping him, much like Pravda did for the Soviet Union. Only Fox has the balls to dig out the dirt and tell the real truth. The liberals hate Fox because they cannot stand the truth or dirt to be brought out. |
| Biggles | posted 8-Nov-2009 5:54pm No, because they don't do journalism - they take a position and then present that. I'm sure that there's a degree of bias in all news, but at least a lot of other news channels appear to make some efforts at actual journalism. |
| ron9272 | posted 8-Nov-2009 7:03pm Fox is the most truthful. |
| Richard47 | posted 8-Nov-2009 7:19pm Yes, of course! |
| rustygirl50 | posted 8-Nov-2009 8:52pm ya, what gomez said. exactly. |
| ihatespiders | posted 8-Nov-2009 10:17pm Fox would do better without Glenn Beck. He says he not a racist, but the things he says, and body language, says he is a racist. |
| boogeyzilla | posted 11-Nov-2009 4:19pm All news has some bias, but I do agree that Fox News has more than others. However, another major flaw with Fox News is that their reporting is so superficial and has no depth. The other major news channels suffer from this as well, but to a lesser degree. |
