| southernyankee | posted 1-Nov-2009 12:13pm No, just the opposite. Kids today are too disciplined. They don't spend as much time outside, and their ex-hippie parents are too strict to compensate for their own lax behavior. |
| Galomorro | posted 1-Nov-2009 1:02pm I don't know very much about how various parents discipline. I think they can be raised well, yet when it comes to peer pressure, a lot of times they can act badly cuz they want to be accepted by the group. In groups they tend to act up more. Like in the back of the bus last week there were a bunch of kids yelling and screaming to each other. One screamed really loudly which caused everyone to look back at them. Then a couple started calling one another "dog" very loudly. The driver did nothing. Some drivers, however, would've put the kids off the bus after they didn't shut up after a warning. |
| mandy | posted 1-Nov-2009 2:44pm This is too broad. I believe some kids are and some kids are not. Depends on the goat raising them up |
| Crayons | posted 1-Nov-2009 2:59pm I can't say if they were not disciplined well YESTERDAY though.
My friend, she's from a Hispanic, bilingual family, and her brother is just NASTY. He's 13, I would say, and he hits the 8 year old girl, who is chatty and always wants attention. And he tells the 2 year old baby to shut up when she cries. He taught the two year old to say fudge you. He's just a nasty kid. Also, my friend told me, that he said that my boobs weren't big enough or anything. I haven't said two words to that kid. He's just got what looks like antisocial behavior, and I don't know why. I don't know who to blame, but I know the father is kind of not around enough, and the mom.. I don't know. Kids my age are always smoking, they can get cigarettes really easily. They do a lot of drugs, and their parents buy the booze for their parties. But when we were little we never got to go out on our own, like we would read about how Henry Huggins did in Beverly Cleary's books. |
| Enheduanna | posted 1-Nov-2009 3:39pm I think some are and some aren't. Same as always. |
| bill | posted 1-Nov-2009 4:23pm I think it's kind of weird when kids are into B&D. |
| Iseult | posted 1-Nov-2009 6:01pm I don't know. I talk to a kid once a year. I don't come near kids unless I'm at the mall and they're walking close to me. |

| LJD | posted 1-Nov-2009 9:34pm Parents of today, are up against it...so are the kids. |

| meowry | posted 2-Nov-2009 5:25am Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. But I think they are much more outspoken (if not rude). This is the culture we live in, today. |
| coffee5437 | posted 2-Nov-2009 12:58pm what?
When you look at drop out levels it seems to ME children are treated like a bunch of dunder heads. There is nothing wrong with lifting our expectations. The trick is recognizing appropriate levels. Of course, this is a hugh subject because their parents haven't got a clue since they are just teaching as taught!!! I could go on but it just makes be tired thinking about it. |
| cerealkiller | posted 2-Nov-2009 1:20pm Someone needs to brush up on grammar. Very confusing sentences. |
| LuridHope | posted 3-Nov-2009 11:23am Yes, it's the generational curse of a self centered media driven consumer culture. |
| LuridHope | posted 3-Nov-2009 11:24am Good question. Redundant and bias answer options. |
| Wicksy | posted 3-Nov-2009 4:25pm They will be fine tomorrow! |
| LindaH | posted 3-Nov-2009 6:33pm I think they are externally disciplined too much, and are not being taught proper self-discipline. |
| AnAnde04 | posted 3-Nov-2009 10:50pm I think kids get by with way too much. I had a kid say something rude to me because she was tired of waiting in line. When I was a kid, if I said something rude to an adult (especially if this adult was a complete stranger), I would be in a load of trouble. Kids these days tend to think that the world is theirs, so they can do whatever they want and everything should go their way. |
| AnAnde04 | posted 3-Nov-2009 10:54pm I guess maybe this survey should have asked where we were from. Maybe a connection lies in the areas we live in. Or maybe we should have also asked ages, too, in order to understand our points of view better. |
| they | posted 4-Nov-2009 9:33am It's not the discipline that's the problem. |
