| bill | posted 29-Oct-2009 8:42pm I think saying "I don't believe in God" is not quite how I feel about it. I prefer to say, "I believe there is no God." That expressed how I feel more precisely.
I got this from Penn Gillette, see: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story...

| Wicksy | posted 30-Oct-2009 6:17am No, I am an atheist.
There is no proof of God anywhere. It was made up by the primitive human beings that were trying to work out the ways of the world. They looked at the moving sun and assigned a God to it. That is what you would expect back then. However today, it is very different. The fact of evolution points to a much more complicated theory of natural selection. This is the only plausible theory. I mean, come on. If God did create the universe 4.5 billion years ago, why would he wait until only a few thousand years ago to create human beings? And why would he have made evolution, a process that makes it look like it WASN'T created by a God.

| Iseult | (reply to Wicksy) posted 30-Oct-2009 7:41am But in the end, I'd rather take happiness over truth when it comes to something like this. The way I see it, if it's going to give my life more meaning, then I can cope with it. | |

| dab | (reply to bill) posted 30-Oct-2009 8:33am What a great article. Of course, I really like Penn's work anyway. I especially liked this line:

I don't really know why this should be so, but I am happier now than I was in High School hanging out with the Jesus Freaks (that was what everyone called us back then) or in Long Beach when I was attending synagogue and keeping kosher.
