| Iseult | posted 28-Oct-2009 8:49pm I'm not a fan of ground lines, but I do prefer cordless phones over the ones with cords. |
| LindaH | posted 28-Oct-2009 8:53pm Yes. Less restrictive. |
| Enheduanna | posted 28-Oct-2009 9:05pm Yes; I prefer them to phones with cords. |
| Galomorro | posted 28-Oct-2009 11:09pm I do not have a landline, nor any other kind of phone. I don't like phones at all. |
| Lysannus | posted 29-Oct-2009 1:18am Only if its a 5.2Ghz encrypted, anything less than 5.2Ghz will not work in my house with all the electrical interference from my work working shop and I just want it encrypted so the neighbors can't listen in (nosy buggers). |

| Jody | posted 29-Oct-2009 9:53am Cordless phones are good because you can walk around with them. Great if you're on hold. But I like corded phones when you need to push numbers to respond to voice prompts - much easier to be able to hold the handset to your ear, and push buttons on the base unit. |
| cerealkiller | posted 29-Oct-2009 12:54pm Never use the landline for phone use. |

| Richard47 | posted 29-Oct-2009 7:37pm Yes, I have a cordless phone at home (and am never on it long enough that I must recharge it mid call), and at work...a regular phone, but I am only at my desk when using it...and I take advantage of using speaker phone if I am concurrently on the computer. I only use a cell phone to and from work...those calls are no longer than 30 seconds (I hate cell phones) |

| Galomorro | (reply to Richard47) posted 29-Oct-2009 8:37pm I'm moderately hearing-impaired and phones interfere with my hearing aids. I also feel they are invasive and have never felt comfortable talking on the phone. All sorts of telemarketers tend to call, too, whereas with computer spam, it doesn't interrupt you while you're trying to do other things - you can just delete the unwanted emails at your leisure. The last straw that caused me to stop the phone completely is that the phone company started charging me for long-distance calls which I did not make - never made a long-distance call in my life. I was supposed to be getting a monthly charge for low-income subscribers. So since I never used the phone anyway, I decided to stop all the hassle. I prefer to communicate via email. I was forced to have a phone when looking for work, but once I took early retirement there was really not much need to keep it. If there was some kind of emergency, I could always ask a neighbor to make a call for me. |

| they | posted 1-Nov-2009 9:53pm Not really. Mine is unplugged. |
| coffee5437 | posted 2-Nov-2009 12:40am Gave up land line. I bought a phone number and Skype so I can call computer to computer, landlines, and cell phones anywhere in the US and Canada for about $60USD a year. |
