Who do you think is the best actor/actress of all time?

Liz Taylor, Streisand. I really don't follow films enough to know or care about many actors/actresses though.

There are a few favorites, but best...hard to say

Meryl Streep (of course)...who can argue with 15 Academy Award nominations(?)

Oh, I don't know... I checked a list and of the ones I saw, Daniel Day-Lewis, seemed best.

Gary Oldman. The first several films I saw him in, it was at least halfway through the film before I realized I'd been seeing him all along. He kind of takes on the characters so well, he can be difficult recognize.

I couldn't narrow it down to just one.

Man, what a question?........... You cannot answer this there are just too many variables AND answers I guess Robert De Niro is up there and Meryl Streep?

Can't really name one. I think Ewan McGregor is underrated - he never does the same type of role twice and is always outstanding. Leo DiCaprio is also really good - his early and late films are a lot better than his hearthrob films.

Women is a lot easier - Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep.

Tiny Tim or “Moms” Mabley perhaps although David Hasselhoff is pretty awesome. For female, Jessica Simpson or Paris Hilton...

Personally, my favs are Jeannine Garofalo and Drew Barrymore for kicks and laughs but I think the most unsung yet talented actresses of all times is Michelle Pfeiffer. She sings, dances, acts, emotes. Also, Nicole Kidman. But my all time fav actor for years and years is Dustin Hoffman. My god, if he was still single I would camp at his door step.

But no really, it's extremely difficult, almost impossible, to say.

What constitutes 'the best'? Most paid? Diverse roles? Popularity?

Personaly, I like Hugh Jackman (although my liking for him does not necessarily have anything to do with his acting ability), Viggo Mortensen, Ewan McGregor, Allan Rickman, and Ian McKellen, among many others. I used to be a fan of Joaquin Phoenix but then he went all crazy; it doesn't bother me that he went crazy but that the media picked up on it and it was all over the news. I tend to streer clear of celebrities that are exposed.

When it comes to actresses, I like Monica Belluci and Helena Bonham Carter. I don't necessarily think either of them are 'the best'.

I'm going to go with Jack Nicholson just because he's a crazy mofo but he was able to show a softer side in About Schmidt.

Dustin Hoffman has done a great job with a wide variety of roles....but I suspect the best of all time has already come and gone. It takes less acting ability to be famous on screen these days than it used to.

I like different actors for different things... I think it would be easier for me to list examples of great acting.

Johnny Depp I think is the best actor, he is also good looking and a very talented man.
