Yorkshire water. Not Lincolnshire water * dead face * . Lincolnshire water is so nasty (and hard) that I'm doing 10 days stints on placement and drinking less than a cup of fluid a day. I do intake more than that in my food, but I'm also not eating as much fruit and veg as usual because living away makes everything more difficult.

I'm visiting my grandparents this weekend with my parents, who are going to drop me off for placement (near to my grandparents' home) on their way back with plenty of bottles of water (which has so far been impossible, as there are usually four of us sharing a small car). The environment says "Noooo!" but my kidneys say "Thank you!"

KOMBUCHA !!!!! "Synergy" brand is the cheapest of the two brands in Whole Foods' refrigerated drinx section. ALL flavors, especially the "Green" and "Gingerade."

After that, "Ginger 'Gizer," Yerba Maté -- especially like the chai and chocolate teabag versions and the bottled Bombilla brand -- all flavors of the latter, Blueberry especially. "Mix 1" is good too. "Evolution" is good. I like healthy drinks. Oh, and my own homemade smoothies too.

Milk! I go through a 4 litre jug every week.
The only other things I drink are juice(about 1 litre a week) and just the odd glass of water here and there. I don't drink any coffee, tea, pop, etc.

Soda wasn't even an option?

Gingerale with OJ concentrate, pomegranate syrup, and mint.
Next would be a banana coconut date shake.

The steady supply of coffee doesn't count.

But, the extreme change in temperature in my mountain home at the time made it hard for them to grow after a while and got moldy. It is so easy to grow your own and I did feel a difference with the juice they produced.

Warm clime in a house is the best. I was given the shroom by someone. You make a gallon batch of black tea (or green tea) with a cup of sugar and the kombucha eats the sugar and tea and starts to grow in layers... sort of like a flaky biscuit. Really slimy and a light vanilla yellow color. I think it was a week. You can usually taste when it is ready. You then separate the layers and start another one for each layer. You can have quite a few going at once. They multiply. Very important: Never must metal touch the shroom or fungus or stir the tea. It does something to it... taints it somehow. Once when I removed one but kept the tea in a warm kitchen another grew just from the spores in the tea. I drank a cup a day. Really sweet vinegar taste.

Got the hard water problem where I live. We solved it because one of our roommates has a water cooler and now we use that (and it's only about $3 for 18L of water).

Before the water cooler, I'd just go on through the day not drinking water. It gets hard after a while but that was still a better option than drinking tap water.

'Day of the Triffids' was a 50's horror film with giant walking plant creatures from outerspace. Holding out at a lighthouse they discover the things react to salt-water hosing like snails. A jar of Kambucha growing in the fridge struck me as something alien.

> It is a plant from South America like a tea but very strong yet not suppose to have any caffeine in it. It comes in tea bag form. The Yerba Mate Company is here in Ashland, OR and have branched out everywhere. It should be in a regular grocery store now. If not, in a health food store. 2 is not necessary better than one. It may take slower to get into your system, unlike coffee, but when it does ... Wow. So better try it one cup at a time. I find if I drink it while reading in bed in the morning I don't feel it anything like when I finally get up to get ready then it flows through my system and I really wake up. More of a feel good feeling than a caffeine feeling... unless someone over does it. Then it will make you feel quite jangled.

Tea bag form? That kills the whole exotic Argentinian presentation. Traditionally the entire cup is packed with dry leaves like a sponge, and one drinks it with straws which poke through down to the bottom.

I could see how Milk would only be good ice cold. I can't drink white milk at all though. Maybe I should try it with ice. The only way I'll drink chocolate milk is with Ovaltine.... and I chug it. It's a good chocolate fix. * raspberry *

I use orange juice as my ice. I mix in a couple spoons of frozen OJ with a couple ounces of cran/pom juice, then pour in a can of gingerale. As I did so a few minutes ago I was thinking about you and a survey to see who enjoyed ice-cream style head freezing as a kid. Confirms my SC group mind observation.
