| Enheduanna | posted 5-Oct-2009 6:23pm Not that I know of. It's likely they've made changes I just haven't noticed, though. Overall, I think the whole system is pretty ludicrous, and I'm glad that some new regulations are going into effect. |
| Iseult | posted 5-Oct-2009 6:46pm - Shut off my debit card over a stupid reason.
- Transmit any account information which you feel was inappropriate - Every time they give my name and phone number to one of those organizations who tries to sell me 'insurance' and 'protection' for my credit card, it's highly inappopriate. Leave me alone, please. I'm generally satisfied with my bank. I wish they'd quit charging my interest on my unpaid credit card balance, though |
| RainingFeathers | posted 5-Oct-2009 6:56pm I am quite happy with both my bank and credit card. I've never had any of these issues with either of them. |
| cerealkiller | posted 5-Oct-2009 7:27pm Nothing really. Debit card was "declined" a few times some years ago for insufficient funds but that is to be expected.
Actually, I've had credit cards and auto loans LOWER my interest rates to help me out so I would keep paying them. I have no issues with banks. I pay no monthly service charges, they send me e-mail alerts with debit card and deposit transactions, statements are online so I don't deal with paper, etc. They gouge you when you bounce a check but I haven't had an issue with that for a few years. Well, correction, I hate frickin' Wells Fargo. About 6 years ago I bounced a couple checks and in addition to the rip-off initial fees they kept on charging me $5 a DAY for "continuous overdraft" condition. They jacked it up to over $800 in fees. I walked away from the fudgeers and left them hanging for about $3,000. |
| Galomorro | posted 5-Oct-2009 7:31pm Not happy with banking experiences... Tell me again, why are we bailing... other forms of banking concerns... I wish they WOULD totally shut down my account and not charge me anymore late or overlimit charges.... |
| bill | posted 6-Oct-2009 6:47am Our bank card has been replaced (numbers changed, new cards sent) a few times now (seemed like once a year for a while, maybe still). Mostly, it hasn't been because of any fraud on our account, but I think because the number got compromised internally. A couple times, we have had fraudulent charges on it and we told them and the cards got replaced. One time they replaced the card without telling us first and we found out when it didn't work (at the grocery store or something, it sucked). Another time it happened around the time we went on vacation (and needed to use the card a lot), but it turned out OK.
My local bank often calls me when I renew domains (small amount of money) I use for my websites because the company I use is German and it looks suspicious to them. But, they don't learn, they keep calling me (it just happened a couple weeks ago). But, they don't block anything, just call to confirm it's OK and they are nice about it on the phone. Sometimes, the card we use the most calls us to confirm we really made certain purchases... it's a little annoying, but I suppose they are protecting us/them. I overdrew an account I have with a local bank and they charged me a number of overdraft fees. I had used the wrong checkbook to pay off a large quarterly tax bill. The overdraft protection got hit repeatedly, as other bills on auto-pay also triggered it. I think it might have been $50 in fees total. Annoying, but it was my fault, so. Actually, I heard recently that this sort of thing is being changed by most banks (it's now an option). Banks had been making billions over fees like this. I haven't really had any major issues with banks/cards. |
| FordGuy | posted 6-Oct-2009 7:24am I use a credit union, and they are great to me. |
| Jody | posted 6-Oct-2009 8:33am I love my credit union. |
| LJD | posted 6-Oct-2009 10:14am I think the credit industry is evil, corrupt. It is meant to steal away our wealth...enslave you |
| LJD | posted 6-Oct-2009 10:15am I don't use credit cards |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 6-Oct-2009 4:05pm I just had them shut off my debit card because they just flagged paying Skype as a suspicious activity. It took two surreal visits to my bank branch to restore my card. I was getting paranoid for a bit.
I've had my credit rates tripled for being a day late over Christmas. That pretty much put an end to my credit days. One credit company, to verify my ID, gave me a multiple choice test about which web sites I am familiar with. |
| they | posted 7-Oct-2009 8:03am Apparently, if there are pending transactions, they run the highest dollar amounts first. This causes the multiple small dollar transactions to generate an 'NSF Fee'. My bank charges $34.00 each. At least, that was the cost last year.
Also, my bank refuses to cash my daughter's social security checks. They want me to open an account in her name or else they won't cash them for me (I'm the legal payee). Due to this, I have to cash her checks at Kroger. KROGER cashes a government check for me; National Crapty won't. |
| jettles | posted 7-Oct-2009 10:28am my credit card interest rates are going up a little. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to they) posted 7-Oct-2009 4:31pm For a few years it seemed every year my credit cards wee inventing new tricks like that; incidental looking processing procedures with potentially huge impacts. |
| autumnlight | posted 10-Oct-2009 3:50pm Shut of my debit card. But then, it had been cloned, so I was more grateful that they were on the ball. |
| Gomezy3k | posted 11-Oct-2009 9:06am A**holes took all my money and sent it to Child Support because I owe back support. I have been making payments, just cannot afford the entire amount, so end up with money I owe every month so child support ripped off the whole thing. Why I no longer have a bank account and just use cash. |
| LindaH | posted 17-Oct-2009 10:41pm Just rate increases (spike hikes!) for being late. Mastercard was so anal and excessive about this, I canceled that card. |
| Biggles | posted 8-Nov-2009 7:25pm They cut my overdraft and I can only apply to have it increased again during standard office hours, when - surprise surprise - I am unavailable. So I'm going to end up having a reduced overdraft for about 4 months until I can speak to them during my Christmas holidays. |
