| labjog | posted 15-Sep-2009 7:07am I seek it but rarely get it |
| bill | posted 15-Sep-2009 7:24am Yes, I'm sure I must. But, at the same time, I have this strong impression that I'm just different or a bit weird in the way I interact with other people. I sometimes avoid social contact (very likely because of this weirdness or a general lack of desire to be with people). Though, I probably seem normal in many cases too and it's not that I don't like people, it's more that I get less out of socializing than other people seem to. In other words, I'm an introvert. |
| FordGuy | posted 15-Sep-2009 7:30am I think it's human nature to want to be socially accepted. |

| Melf | posted 15-Sep-2009 10:34am Nah mate. |
| LindaH | posted 15-Sep-2009 10:46am No. I don't have to seek it. It's just there. |
| Galomorro | posted 15-Sep-2009 11:12am Never. |
| icurok | posted 15-Sep-2009 12:30pm It's not that I seek social acceptance, it's more that I avoid social rejection. |
| meowry | posted 15-Sep-2009 7:18pm How can I do that, and be myself? I guess I do sometimes. I don't like being ostracized. I've been there. But I don't like to waste time trying to fit in with the usual bunch. It's not worth it. |
| Enheduanna | posted 15-Sep-2009 7:55pm Yes, to some extent. I like to fit in with my peers generally, but I don't do things that would make me uncomfortable. Social acceptance can mean things like being open to new ideas and experiences, not just conforming to pressures. |
| Biggles | posted 16-Sep-2009 2:18pm My behaviour certainly tends to reflect most of the values that society holds to be important. There are behaviours that most people accept that I choose to ignore, but they are dwarfed by those that I practice unconsciously. |
| Crayons | posted 16-Sep-2009 5:54pm Well, I think I more often try to change people to make them more acceptable to me, than change myself to be acceptable to them. It's harder. |
| Wicksy | posted 17-Sep-2009 3:42pm People think I am strange and find my mannerisms very wierd. Do I care?
No. To me, I am perfectly normal. |
| Zang | posted 10-Oct-2009 11:02am It isn't something I think about. I try to behave like a gentleman. I think that helps. I'm not motivated by social acceptance though. |
