So hard to pick just one, but if I go by the standard of most long term benefits from polices they enacted, I'd call it a three way tie between FDR & Truman (New Deal, purging Europe of Fascism), and Eisenhower (Highway System, warning us about the military industrial complex). I wouldn't put Nixon in the top 5, but even with his abuses of power I'd rank him higher than Hoover, Reagen or Bush. I don't know enough about the others to say really. Clinton was good. Really good. But still overrated. I'd only rank him at 3 or 4.

I tend to go with Theodore Roosevelt. I don't much like his cousin who was President later. Truthfully though, I have a few issues with Theodore as well. Thomas Jefferson is the President I most admire overall, but he was hardly 20th century.

Kennedy I guess and then Bill Clinton. I wasn't a huge fan of any of them.

Clinton.

Just a guess here. Definitely the hottest.

I don't know much about American history, but Clinton is the first one I remember seeing on TV and remember hearing about. I know a bit about Bush Sr, Reagan, Kennedy, Nixon, and F. Roosevelt.

I selected Mr. Carter......not because he was a fantastical President while in office...but because he is the kind of human being on an everyday basis that I aspire to be

No clue and feel inept trying to say one..... Clinton, I guess (notwithsatnding his own personal problems), the country was very rich economically and I seem to recall he never poked his nose in other peoples business, mind you this backfired ...anyone say "Rawanda"?

I'd make a terrible candidate for president; there's no way I could survive that scrutiny. And I sure as hell wouldn't kow-tow to every group I was talking to and they'd boot my ass out for saying what I really thought. Then, should the unthinkable happen and I won the office, I'd sow wreck and ruin while supremely confident that I was making things better. There'd be a whole lot of government employees headed for jail if I wasn't assassinated first.

Really good to see you around again. *hug*

I don't really know much about the policies that these presidents inacted..I just know things about them (like LBJ loved Fresca..totally the million dollar question the other day and I knew it)..So I don't feel I can really say who was the best. Clinton I don't think was..I think he just got lucky. The country was so wealthy because of the line item veto. Now that that's done away with, we don't have a chance.

I chose I don't know because there were NO great Presidents in the 20th Century as far as I am concerned, and damn few before that. and the losers we have for the start of the 21st Century suck even worse.

He was for the working people and did not give money to the lazy people who want to live off other people like Obama does. Obama is a socialist and is selling this nation to the evil islam world.

He was an introvert (INTJ on Myers Briggs) and he had Crohn's disease, like me. Also, he gave that prescient speech warning the "military industrial complex" when he left office. Also, like you said, it was before my time. It's had to think a president you've lived through is "great". There are always problems.

GWB was elected in November 2000, but didn't take office until January 2001. That is, he was not president until after the end of the 20th century even if you figure that the 20th century went through the end of 2000.
