| Matty | posted 19-Aug-2009 12:29pm This seems like an odd question to me, but then again, I suppose some people are very intense about their gaming...friends |
| Melf | posted 19-Aug-2009 12:33pm I have far more films than friends, but not video games. |

| TeddyMiller | posted 19-Aug-2009 1:20pm Assuming games for the PC count, definitely more games than friends. |
| cloudhugger | posted 19-Aug-2009 1:59pm Other. I don't count. I just count on them. |
| llamamama | posted 19-Aug-2009 2:32pm This is really a tricky question. Are we counting computer games too..and that are in the whole house? Probably more video games then. |
| cerealkiller | posted 19-Aug-2009 2:47pm Have neither. |
| Crayons | posted 19-Aug-2009 3:10pm I don't have any video games. |
| FauxLo | posted 19-Aug-2009 3:22pm I will say this though: Trying to rid your life of friends is like trying to keep sand out of the hole you're digging at the beach. |
| Matty | (reply to FauxLo) posted 19-Aug-2009 3:57pm not if you fart and swear every time they come around. |
| FauxLo | (reply to Matty) posted 19-Aug-2009 4:16pm I doubt that. It'd only cause more people to gravitate towards me, I fear. Samoans find farting to be at the heighth of good humor and swearing just isn't my thing. I've out grown my potty mouth. |

I have trouble counting friends, so it's a little hard to answer. Facebook says I have 160 friends and really many are not counted. But, are those people truly friends? It's hard to know where to draw the line. But, I said friends because I don't actually have that many video games. I get rid of most of them after I've played them. |
| Iseult | (reply to bill) posted 20-Aug-2009 9:54am I don't look at Facebook as any kind of indicator. Some people add you after meeting you once. |
| bill | (reply to Iseult) posted 20-Aug-2009 10:17am Aren't some people your friend after meeting you once?
What counts as a friend? I'm really not sure anymore. Are we friends? We're not even facebook friends, but we've known each other (sort of, online) for years. Clearly, we have closer friends that are easy to count, but then there are all those other people you've known over the years... hard to categorize them. |
| Iseult | (reply to bill) posted 20-Aug-2009 5:21pm I think it depends on a person. Some people you meet once, they're so friendly and inviting that you immidiately trust them and like them, and you feel comfortable with them. For other people, it takes days, months, maybe ever years to develop a friendship with.
Personally, friend is somebody that you can count on and that can count on you when they need help or have a problem. Someone you can have a good time with. Someone that trusts you and that you trust. People come and go over the years, but true friends are the ones that you may not see for years, but when you call them up you can still maintain the same level of conversation you used to have without awkwarness or mistrust. I'd call you an online friend. I do make distinction between people I've met online and in real life; there are other people who don't. I choose to do so because I believe that you can't truly know someone until you've seen them in real life, heard the tone of their voice, and seen them move. These are just my ideas of friendships. I am bit more guarded than some people; I'm afraid to call somebody a friend unless I'm 100% certain they would call me a friend, too. Also, it doesn't help that I'm going through a rough time with friends right now - I just moved back to the city where I went for university (my boyfriend got a job there) and everybody I used to be friends with is gone or graduated. Don't really have anyone to call or hang out with. I can't wait to get a job and meet people. |
| autumnlight | posted 20-Aug-2009 6:06pm Video games. I'm not worried about having a lack of friends though - I just have a LOT of games. |
| bill | (reply to Iseult) posted 20-Aug-2009 8:45pm I think that all makes a lot of sense and I feel similarly. |
