No. Why do that when one can either buy a software CD of various encyclopedias, or else look online free -- Encarta for instance is easily accessible and free.

My mom told me the other day that she was trying to figure out a place to donate my childhood encyclopedias..... 1979 encyclopedias. I took them off her hands.

No, but I recall using a set in the public library or school when I was a kid. Also Encyclopedia Britannica (which was better).
I use wikipedia a lot now.
